NRS FAQs
HydroSkin®
- What is HydroSkin®?
HydroSkin® is NRS's answer
to a comfortable, warm weather alternative to the traditional neoprene
wetsuit.
- How warm is HydroSkin®?
HydroSkin® with
TiCoat
insulation (titanium flecks that act as a space blanket and reflects
heat back to you) is 90% as warm as a standard 2mm wetsuit without TiCoat.
- What’s the difference between HydroSkin and neoprene
wetsuits?
HydroSkin garments are neoprene wetsuit pieces, lighter in weight and
with advanced technical features. All of our wetsuits protect you by
keeping water away from your skin and insulating your body from the
chilling effect of cold water.
HydroSkin has a 0.5-mm thickness of neoprene. It excels during those
cool water/weather days. It also works well for layering with the heavier
wetsuits and under splash and drywear. Our other wetsuits items use
2, 2.5 and 3-mm neoprene.
The thicker neoprene garments are, the warmer they get and the more
restrictive they become. The combination of thinner neoprene and four-way
stretch PowerSpan outer fabric in the HydroSkin makes it very non-restrictive
to body movement, though less warm. The brushed finish ThermalPlush
inner layer is comfortable against your skin. All our neoprene
pieces use the Titanium adhesive. This increases warmth and comfort
without adding bulk.
- When would I wear HydroSkin®?
HydroSkin works great as a solo layer or under your splash or dry wear
when the air and/or water are cool. Keeps you warm out of the water
and gives you some thermal protection while in the water. You can wear
it kayaking, rafting, in the pool, snorkeling in the Tropics, and even
surfing in Hawaii.
