PC4A and NRS's Pink Guru
With every purchase of a pink NRS Guru PFD, NRS will donate $5.00 to Paddling For Cancer Awareness. This all-volunteer organization reaches out to kayakers, canoeists and rafters to educate for early detection and treatment and advocate for lifestyle changes, especially exercise, as important means of affecting survival.
The volunteers travel to paddling events, where they pass out literature, talk to boaters, network with local treatment centers and provide outings for cancer survivors and their loved ones. They have a large pink canoe they take to the events, put in parades and use to take survivors and their families out on the water.
Statistics show that one in every three or four people will develop some type of cancer in their lifetime. Cancers of all types are some of the leading causes of death. Fortunately, much can be done to fight these diseases and to prevent onset. Groups like Paddling For Cancer Awareness provide important services to our community. Through education on the symptoms, information on early detection and the things we can do to strengthen our immune systems, we all stand a better chance of avoiding cancer and surviving it if afflicted.
NRS is proud to support Paddling For Cancer Awareness in their efforts to reach out to the outdoor community in general, and paddlers in particular. Kudos to the volunteers that give of their time and talents to make this happen!
