Carlson Barrel Pump Maintenance Information

Carlson Pumps with Blue hoses (new style)

• The new style pumps do not require grease for lubrication. Make sure to clean the inside of the barrel once or twice a year for maximum performance.

Carlson Pumps with GREEN hoses (older style)

• The old style pumps require grease to keep the piston working smoothly inside the chamber. To apply the grease open the top of the pump and lubricate the O-ring inside the pump. Close the pump and pump up and down about 5 times. Use blue lithium grease to lubricate your pump. This is a boat trailer axle/marine grease that will not attract sand.
