How To: Dress for Fall Canoeing
Canoeing in the fall is great - no bugs and no crowds. To do it safely you need to think about dressing for the cooler water temperatures. Water pulls heat away from your body some 25 times more quickly than does air - always dress for the possibility of a swim. It's important to wear insulation layers like neoprene that will keep you warm if you do end up in the water. Splash wear and rain gear provide extra protection, along with neoprene gloves and wetshoes. And don't forget your life jacket; it's even more important safety apparel this time of year.
