Comments about NRS 14' River Cataraft:

I bought a 14'River Cat in 2001 and 12 years, and many rivers, later it is still going strong. Awesome for multi-day trips to carry big coolers, cook boxes, etc. Its been down the Grand, Middle Fork of the Salmon, Main Salmon, etc. Also use it for day trips and overnighters on rivers here in the Southeast. Literally the best money I have ever spent.

Comments about NRS 14' River Cataraft:

Shoulder injuries have limited my ability to row our 14' NRS raft so the cataraft purchase was an attempt to get me back on the oars. And the cataraft was an excellent solution -- other than me having to battle our 16 year old son for the privilege to row each day on our inaugural Main Salmon trip. Very maneuverable, light, durable and a great product. Almost allowed my husband to pretend he was a kayaker again.

Comments about NRS 14' River Cataraft:

Need to offer more choices in neutral outdoor colors such as green that blend with the outdoors.
Would not change anything about this boat, it's practical in all respects for river running.

            Q:

I have a 2002 135 NRS Expedition raft with an NRS fishing frame. Works great but too heavy for my next trip. Frame is 60" x 68". I'm thinking of buying NRS 14' River Cataraft tubes and 68" drop side rails to use with existing frame. Do you see any problems using the fishing frame on the tubes, such as being too narrow causing stability problems? I need to pack the tubes and frame down a mile trail to get to the river and then float it through rapids called the Squeeze, which is also very narrow. The 2002 raft is too heavy to pack in without a horse and I'd rather spend the money on tubes than a horse. The tubes I can pack one at a time.

              A:

Jeff, you will have a relatively narrow craft. If you have the side rails in the center of the tubes, the tubes will be about 35" apart. Not much different than a 66" yoke frame. So, I think you'll be okay. Just don't go into any holes sideways!
