The yokes are made from bendable anodized aluminum pipe that has been welded and powder coated.
Construction:>
1 5/8" 6063-T6 anodized aluminum pipe
High strength-to-weight ratio..
Outside diameter = 1 5/8"
Inside diameter = 1 3/8"
Wall thickness = 1/8""
Cast aluminum LoPro fittings
Stainless steel "coined" U-bolts

Please note: NRS Cataraft Yokes place the center of the lower side rails 10" below the center of the top side rail. Generally they work best on NRS River Cats, Kodiak Cats and other manufacturer's cat tubes 24" or larger in diameter. Measure the depth of your inside D-rings to see if this is your best choice. For cats with smaller diameter tubes, the Sport Cat Frame (# 1275) is an excellent choice.

Comments about NRS Cataraft Yoke:

I purchased this product for a friend because the raft of his that I rowed through the Grand Canyon suffered a catastrophic failure at the top of Grapevine Rapid. I wanted to make his repair job as simple as possible in return for his invitation on the trip. The Low-Pro connector sheared in two on impact with a submerged rock. I believe this failure to be an anomaly as none of us had ever seen anything like it. For the most part, this is a very strong frame design. Both of my own rafts are made of NRS components.

      Comments about NRS Cataraft Yoke:

I would make the top level with the top of the rest o the frame. It would help with a level surface between it and the other bars for packing gear etc.

Alex, take a look here for dimensions of the yokes - http://www.nrsweb.com/frames/Specs.asp?deptid=974&tn=49#Yoke - The curve of the pipe isn't designed to a particular tube diameter. They work best for cat tube diameters 24" and larger. For smaller diameter tubes our drop rail-type frames work best. Give us a call, 800.635.5202, or email service@nrsweb.com, for extra help.

          A:

I have the 72" frame. The radius seems to be made for a 25-28" tube. For
the inside width, my 36" dry box just fits between the two lower bars and
acts as a kind of spreader bar. The tubes would be two frame diameter bars
wider. Sorry, I don't have the exact width of the frame tubes with me at
this time, but 3" would be close or 39" between the tubes themselves.

          I have an aire jaguarundi which is a 16 x 24 and I use 3 72" yokes in my
frame. The yoke hugs the contour of the 72" perfectly. I can't speak for
the 66", but 24" tubes work ideally.

        Q:

Hello, I was wondering what the width between tubes is for each of the cataraft yokes. In other words what is the width of the "cockpit"

        Thanks
