I had straps slung from the frame which worked, but was a pain to load and to keep the straps from getting tangled up. Now with the NRS frame cooler mount it is much easier to load. The only downfall is the cost of it. With less than $20 for the 4 straps that leaves $60 for the 4 peices of aluminum. Other than the cost it works perfectly.

This product works very well keeping the cooler positioned just above the floor. It is so much easier to setup and use than slides. This fact is really noticed when taking a cooler in and out during a trip. My friend has the adjustable version which doesn't appear to be quite as user friendly. I consider this product to be money well spent as it saves considerable time and frustration while keeping pressure off the floor.

Yes, it'll work as a rough seat option. The cooler cushion that velcroes on there as an add-on is a plus. The seat that this creates is functional but not perfect, as it has a tendency to pivot side to side a bit, and I have had a passenger flip out of the boat when he lost his balance once. Ira, indeed it is set up to be used as a seat, I purchased the exact same
hardware for mtg a cooler on my rowing frame and it works great. two
things you might wish to consider; first, NRS offers a padded seat to fit
the cooler, it's not mandatory but it will make your passengers more
comfortable. And two, I found that a strap on either side of the cooler
attached to the frame rails helps prevent the cooler from moving laterally
