Cast of 356 aluminum alloy and shaped for tremendous strength and uncompromising stiffness, NRS 8" Oar Mounts will hold up for a very long time. They're the most versatile oar mount around. You can adjust their working height by rotating them around the circumference of the rails.
Accepts 5/8" oarlocks or pins and include mounting hardware. Fits over pipe 1 5/8" in Diameter.
Singles do not come with hardware. If you do not already have hardware you will need NRS Frame U-bolt to attach the oar mount to an NRS Frame.

even if you wanted shorter you just adjust them by turning them outward and they are the same as 6 inch.

The angle of you oar mount will depend on the angle of your shafts when the blades are in the water. This, of course, is determined by the height of the seat and size of rower. If the oar mounts are upright, the oar locks will wear the shafts below the stops--if this is the case, there's usually a popping sound from restricted shaft movement. If the oar mounts have too great of an angle, the same thing will happen. The angle of the oar mounts should allow for smooth strokes, which is to say, the shafts should be perpendicular to the oar lock seat when blades are in the water. Again, this all depends on seat height and size of the rower.

One of the great advantages of the NRS Oar Mount is that it is so adjustable. Not only can you move it along the side rail, but you can adjust the angle to fit your needs. The mounts rotate, so can be set at any angle. The goal for us taller rafters with the 8" mounts is to adjust them, so that the oars in the oar locks can be brought to a horizontal position at the level of the abdomen of the rower. Recommend attaching them loosely with locks and oars, and then adjusting optimum angle.VERIFIED BUYER

In a position that allows the end of the oars to clear each other and so the
oar keep (wishbone shaped thing) is verticle enough so there is no
interference with the oar sleeves. For my equipment that is about 15
degrees off verticle.

Well sure I can answer this question.
the answer is in your body frame.. depending on the way you set your seat, how long your arms are and how much you use your upper body only to row will determine the "pitch" of your Mounts.
If you are of short body length, short arm length or row with your chest, back and butt (doing a forward heave of the system to get a stroke) you want the Oar Mounts set quite a bit to the outside of the frame this widens the distance of the oar lock farther down the oar to the center, increasing the leverage the person has and dropping the oar handle to meeting just about chest height when both oars doing a forward push. A lot of 14 foot rowers, Otter rowers and finesse boaters have their oars here. If you have a longer body frame, real long arms and/or are real strong on just rowing with your arms, put the Oar Mounts directly parallel with the oar frame (as much as you can straight up and down) this will increase the height of the oar itself, increase the height of the oar handle and allow for a strong arm push with the handles moving somewhere near the rowers head/ chin/ ears... A lot of Cataract boaters set the mounts this way.
Tip. once you have it set, we recommend drilling a hole in the mount and the frame and bolting the stand in place if you are heading into big water as these guys can and do have a tendency to rotate under big water stress...
