Comments about NRS U-Shaped Thigh Bar:

Offers great security to the standing fly fisherman, but without "horns" to keep you from falling sideways, I would be very careful standing through more serious whitewater.

        Service and delivery comments:

        excellent!

Comments about NRS U-Shaped Thigh Bar:

Great brace for fishing in rough water. One complaint has been that it is too low on the thighs for tall folks.

                  Q:

I have a 14' Aire with NRS frame. Do I need the smaller of the two thigh bars you offer?

If you have the super duper puma 14' you need the smaller of the two.   I have the super puma and the large was way to big.  Hope this helps

I got the smaller of the two thigh bars and I am thinking of going
bigger because there is simply not enough room between the swivel seat
and the front of the bar and your legs keep hitting the back of the seat
causing chaffing. Although I have not tried the larger one, I am going
to see if my buddies fits. I also have a 14'3" inch 143 R Aire.
I know that doesn't help all that much, but my recommendation would be
to go with the bigger one as that is what I wish I did.

Patrick, measure the width of your frame, center-to-center of the side rails. If that width is 54" or less you need the Small. If it's 60" or larger you need the Large.

Patrick. I just bought the larger of the two thigh bars, and the answer to your question is based on the width of your frame. I have a 12 foot Pro Advantage with 60 inch crossbars on my frame. The large thigh bar fits it perfectly. Good luck.

The thigh bar width depends on the boat and frame width. My boat is 7' wide 14' NRS 140e. The large thigh bar was the answer. We actually have a small thigh bar for another boat and would not fit the wider seat bar for the angler seat. We also like the full thigh bar versus the pedestal style thigh hook for fishing as it tangles line a lot less and can be positioned in various heights to accommodate different sized people.

I only have 39" between frame rails to mount the Lo Pros. Can you make one that's 39" center to center on the pipe ends?

We can certainly do custom sizes for this and many other frame parts. Check your math before making the order. The LoPro fitting, that's outside the pipe is 3 1/2" x 2". Give us a call, 800.635.5202, to place a custom order.

Don't have my raft here right now, it's in storage up on the river for this
coming weekend's steelhead fishing. But I have a U bar for my super-puma
(13ft), and I believe that frame width is about 4 feet. I think there is a
bigger U bar available for larger frames, and mine is the smaller one.
Mine is a bit tight of a squeeze to get into when you use a swivel seat,
because of the curved design of the seat mount crossbar (catches your feet).
A little easier if you're using a bench or cooler as a seat, with a straight
cross bar in front of the cooler. But I prefer the U bar to the J bar as it
doesn't bend down as easily, or catch your fly line. You can Velcro mount a
                    stripping basket to it.
                    Hope this helps!
