NRS Raft Motor Mount
$159.95
Attach an outboard motor to the NRS Raft Motor Mount and your raft is ready for fishing or moving you through those long, flat stretches.
- We use our heavy-duty 1-5/8" OD 6061-T6 aluminum pipe to make the framework for the Motor Mount.
- The 18" wide transom plate is a piece of 2 x 8 wood/plastic composite decking material that will not rot or deteriorate when exposed to water and sun.
- We back the transom plate with two pieces of aluminum channel to increase the grip on the L-shaped pipe sections. Four oversize U-bolts hold the transom plate firmly in place.
- If you already have an NRS Stern Seat Mount, you can install your Motor Mount by removing the Seat Bar and seat and substituting the Motor Mount.
- If you do not have a Stern Seat Mount you will need a pair of NRS Stern Side Rails (item #1200 SR, sold separately) to link the Motor Mount to the rear Crossbar of your frame. We stock two sizes: the Small Stern Side Rail spans 32" and the Large 36". Measure the distance from the center of the rear crossbar to the center of the raft's rear tube. If you need a length other than 32" or 36", we will custom bend the size you need at no extra cost.
- In our experience, a 10-hp motor is generally as large a motor as most boaters use. Even a 3-hp motor will move a raft along at a pretty good clip.
- Always attach a safety rope or strap from your motor to the frame.

NRS Raft Motor Mount Q: what is the diameter of the tubing. Asked on 2/13/2013 by lendy from Whitefish, MT Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: Outside diameter is 1 5/8". Answered on 2/13/2013 by Clyde from NRS
NRS Raft Motor Mount Q: Does a long shank, or short shank motor work with this Mount? Can I email John, from answer #2 on previous question? Asked on 1/22/2013 by Krik from Boise, ID Know the answer? Answer this question 4 answers A: Long shank only if mounted on typical inflatable Answered on 1/22/2013 by Anonymous A: Long or short shank motor will depend on the kick or rocker of your boat. Usually the transom plate can adjust down to the mid-area of the back tube panel. You can measure from there. Answered on 1/22/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: I use a short shank. Kind of depends on the rise of your raft end. Mine works especially when the back is loaded down. K Answered on 1/22/2013 by The Hammer from Post Falls, ID A: I use a 36" trolling motor with mine. I guess it will depend on your boat. There is some adjustment in moving the mounting board up and down on the frame, and rotating the mount on the rocket of the boat Best way to tell is inflate boat and measure, or get specs on your boat to determine rocker rise. If in doubt go longer on the shaft because you can usually adjust shaft length, depending on the motor. Sent from my iPhone Answered on 1/22/2013 by Anonymous
NRS Raft Motor Mount Q: I have a fishing frame from NRS. On it, I have a rear seat assembly. If I buy this motor mount, will it fit without having to take off the seat ? I just want to use it for a trolling motor. I'd like to mount it behind the seat, leaving the seat there. Can that be done ? Asked on 11/21/2012 by Bill from Nashville, TN. Know the answer? Answer this question 9 answers A: The sides of the seat may hit the lo-pros. but it wouldnt be hard to make risers for the seat. I could rig it and make it work no problem. john Answered on 11/21/2012 by Anonymous A: Yes, if you have our rear seat bar the Motor Mount will fit. However, the seat is so close to the transom plate that you will have difficulty operating the motor. Email me, clyde@nrsweb.com and I'll send you a photo of a custom mount that you might like better. Answered on 11/24/2012 by Clyde from NRS A: I have it attached along with the read seat. However it does make using the trolling motor a bit tricky as the seat can't be used and sometimes it is in the way of turning the motor- but it's what i do. David Berkshire, L.Ac. Answered on 11/21/2012 by Anonymous A: I had the rear seat and fishing frame on my NRS 14 ft....tried the motor mount with a 5hp Honda, had to take off the seat...whole thing worked but just barely, a real lash up, tried my electric, too worked better but still had to leave off the seat to give the control handle swing room...Dave Sylstra Answered on 11/21/2012 by Anonymous A: Depends on your seat. I had to take mine off to use the tiller handle. Also watch the horse power. Too much on a long shaft motor and it will tilt the mount system down. I struggled with mine but was able to make it work with some adjustments. Hope that helps Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4GLTE Phone Answered on 11/21/2012 by Anonymous A: Yes, it should work for you. However, you need a way to connect the motor mount to your NRS frame. I have a stern frame for my boat in addition to my rowing frame. I use the two side rails. They attach to the cross piece at the back of your rowing frame and the cross piece provided with the motor mount. The side rails can be purchased from NRS, they are item number 1200SR. Hope this helps. John L. Lingard Agency Owner Allstate Insurance E-mail: ****@***.***<mailto:****@***.***> Answered on 11/21/2012 by Anonymous A: Yes...however you might have to adjust the width of the rear seat frame mounts. Answered on 11/21/2012 by Anonymous A: The motor mount works great, take into consideration that depending on the frame you have, you might need to buy a stern seat mount, and attach the motor mount on it. Once you have your frame accessories mounted, find a comfortable point where to place your seat, because of the motor tiller you most likely will not be able to place the seat right in front of the motor but to side in order to be able to stir the raft. Answered on 11/21/2012 by Anonymous A: Bill, I am also an owner of the NRS fishing frame and motor mount. If your rear seat attaches to the cross bar it is possible that you could use this motor mount. The rear seat cross bar on my frame has a plate welded to it to mount the seat on, so I just had to trade out the cross bars. I have the motor mount and no longer use it, used it about 3x. Works fine, but the power on the raft wasn't what I was looking for. It is in perfect condition and I would be willing to sell and ship it to you for less than a new one if you are interested.
