Row in style and comfort when seated over your cooler or dry box. The NRS Frame Flip Seat Mount supports a padded raft seat and tilts forward out of the way to access the cooler or box beneath.
  • The Seat Mount attaches securely to the crossbar with LoPro U-bolt hardware.

  • Use NRS Adjustable Cooler or Dry Box Mounts (sold separately) to adjust the cooler or dry box height to fit the Seat Mount. Alternatively, you can weld tabs on an aluminum dry box.

  • The Mount uses four 2" diameter spacers to protect your cooler or dry box lid from the seat bolt heads.

  • The Mount places the bottom of the spacers (top of your cooler or dry box) 6" above the center of the crossbar the Mount is attached to.

  • Measure to make sure this 6" rise allows your cooler or dry box to be supported above your raft floor or cataraft frame. If you need a different rise, contact us for more options.

  • Since the Flip Seat Mount puts you higher than if your seat was on a Seat Bar, the NRS 10" Oar Mounts, Item # 1283, are the best oar mounts to use with it.

  • Two sets of bolt holes accommodate both Low-Back and High-Back Drain-Hole Seats (sold separately).

  • A tie-down strap with quick release buckle for securing the Mount to the back crossbar is included.
  • Material:  1-5/8" 6061-T6 Anodized Aluminum Frame Pipe
  • Components:
    • 1 - NRS Frame Pipe with LoPro Fittings
    • 1 - U-bolt with nuts and washers
    • 1 - Aluminum Plate
    • 4 - Plastic Spacers
  • Includes:
    • Tie-down strap with quick release buckle for securing the mount to the back crossbar

Comments about NRS Flip Seat Mount:

The Flip Seat Mount was very simple to install & adjust. It made getting into my dry box very easy & quick (between rapids) & it folds the seat out of the way with the frame for storage and transport. It makes me sit high on the raft, so that took some getting used to, but now it feels pretty normal. Also, plan on adjusting your oars and your foot bar (footing) prior to shoving off. That said, it offers a very stable seat and counter support.

Comments about NRS Flip Seat Mount:

I am 6'-4" and have always had trouble getting myself high enough for proper leverage when rowing my cataraft. After installing this on our boat and moving my cooler to below the seat I have gained a lot more room in my frame and now I have have a great position for rowing and good leverage when I need it.

Comments about NRS Flip Seat Mount:

After four week-long trips, I can testify for your flip mount seat. I considered other flip seat options for my 16' river-cat but really wanted to stick with the (most comfortable) NRS seat. I ordered an extra 1/2" rise to fit over my drybox and it fits perfect. It's easy to access the box, very secure and I'm sitting in the best seat on the river. Thanks!

Larry, the seat is a separate purchase. You can mount either the Low-Back or High-Back Drainhole Seats to it.

                          Q:

Will the flip seat mount allow me to carry a cooler and dry box in a 13' otter? Will I need longer oars, taller oar mounts, or an additional cross bar for the longhorn 1 frame to make this set up work? Is there an optimum oar length for this configuration?

I can only answer your question pertaining to the cooler and dry box. I have a cooler below my flip seat and it works great. I have cooler support sling below the cooler. So you probably need an additional cross bar on your frame for the cooler sling. I am 6'-4" and I like the way it puts me up higher in the frame and a better position for rowing. I have a 16' cataraft with 10' oars and the 8 " oarlock risers. I really like the flip seat and the ease for getting into the cooler and how I have freed up floor space in our cat.
                            I hope this helps.

Yes, it should allow you to carry both. Generally folks will want either 8" or 10" oar mounts. You mention a "longhorn I" frame, but I assume you mean a Bighorn I. In that case you will need two extra crossbars, unless you want to trim the seat plate off the seat bar and use it as one of the bars. You'll probably want 8.5' or 9' oars. Please give a call, 800.635.5202, and we can help you get set up. I personally use the Flip Seat and really like it.

I installed the flip mount on my 14' and had to adjust the oars and really need to go from 8' oars to 10'. Also feels like I sit too high. The better thing to do is decide what seat height feels best on your raft and then have NRS decrease the height of the vertical shaft to fit your dry box/cooler height. I plan to buy a shorter dry box and have a local machine shop adjust my flip seat height and keep my existing oars. Two inches higher seating doesn't sound like much until you're in the rapids.
