Comments about Sawyer SST Fishing Oar:

I brought this oars to the Futaleufu, Chile. Fish in mostly calm pools but there is also some more demanding water that I like to take on for the fun of it and each stroke matters. I got this as an upgrade to the flimsy stock aluminum set that came with the Gig Bob, and this oars transfer my intentions to the water with barely any lost of power/control. Well balanced, easy to feather, sturdy connection of the break down pieces. So if you are going on distance, windy or swift conditions I highly recommend this set of oars, not cheap but great quality.
The low rating comes from the fact that the oar sleeves/stopper is not part of the deal, and nobody seems to know how are they supposed to work, I have to "frankenstein" mines with my old sleeves and stoppers, cut pieces, find nuts and bolts...I made them work but was really hating the situation when all I wanted was to go paddling/fishing.

I added these to my North Fork Outdoors Outlaw Escape, a small zodiak type inflatable kayak to give me a higher top rate of speed with less effort than the stock paddles. These didn't dissapoint.

Comments about Sawyer SST Fishing Oar:

Used these oars extensively on a recent canoe trip, rowed about 80km over two weeks. Paired these with a clamp-on rowing rig on 15 ft PakCanoe. Oars were well balanced, can take apart and stow out of the way when paddling or portaging with a cart. The locking mechanism is very secure - used one oar as a stake-out pole while fly fishing, no concerns that the oar would pull apart.
