These oars are not used oftern. They are backup to an electric outboard; in case I run the battery low. The fit where the two halves come together is quite lose on one oar, and pretty good on the other. Because of the use, it's acceptable. If these were intended for whitewater, I'd have to return one of them. Then again, if I needed oars for whitewater, I'd spend the extra and use Cataract mini-magnum oars.

Nearly every time I assemble the oars, the spring clip slides back down into the oar shaft. I have to keep pulling the clip back into place with a bent coat hanger so I can try again to get the oar assembled

The combo of the Carlisle 2 piece oar w/ oar sleeve and oar rite are just right for my 12' jon boat. The NRS folks were very helpful with guiding me to the right products. I use the oar set as a back up to my electric tolling motor but the boat rows so nicely that I will start rowing for pleasure when the fishing is slow.
