As lightweight, strong and durable as any Cataract® Oar, the Mini Magnum was designed specifically for kick boat and pontoon boat enthusiasts who refuse to compromise their rowing power.
  • The Mini Magnum utilizes the same carbon/glass/epoxy material as Cataract's larger oars for an unparralelled strength-to-weight ratio and a great feel.

  • Powerful teardrop blade design maximizes every stroke.

  • Smaller oars for smaller boats don't have to feel like toys! You'll love the sturdy, high-tech construction of the Cataract Mini magnum.

Comments about Cataract Two Piece Mini Mag Oar:

I have fitted the mini-mags on my NRS custom rowing frame for my Aire Traveler canoe/raft. They are working well on flat water so far. NRS small molded sleeves fit well on the shafts and were not that hard to install. Fitted with a pair of OarRights they are protecting the mini-mag shafts very well from wear at the oar locks. We'll see how well this set up works on moving water when the weather imrpoves.

        Service and delivery comments:

As ususal NRS and UPS delievered all this stuff quickly, on time and as promised.

Comments about Cataract Two Piece Mini Mag Oar:

I wrote an earlier review about the cheap plastic blades. And yes, the blades do chip and scratch up quickly. But, these oars are hard to beat in price and performance on the water...The oars are lightweight, have good shafts, and easy to transport. Good grips too. Recently purchased an second pair.

                      Q:

Will the Mini Mag Oar's integrity be maintained if it's drilled for a pin type oar mount?

This is definitely not recommended. It would weaken the oar shaft.

No it is not drilled for pin type ore mount. These ores require a common
                        ore lock.

                        Hi Steve,
If you drill holes in the shaft, the durability will definitely be compromised.
But if you keep the holes small, it might work for your application.
The shafts are hollow and made of carbon fiber. The carbon fiber is very thin.
A lot of pin and clip style oar mounts used on larger oars have the clip fastened to the oar with a heavy duty hose clamp.
My oars have homemade oar stops, and at fastened to large 5/8" oar towers with snug fitting rope. It's ghetto, but I paid less than 12 dollars to mount my oars to my steel frame, so it works for a poor raft guide like me.

I would think that it would compromise the oar and make a weak spot but
can't say for sure. I use the yoke type oar lock.
