Installed these over the plastic sleaves I installed on Carlise 2-piece econo oars. Easier to install than the rubber version and stay put where you secure them. Simple solution, easy to install and secures the sleave.

These stops are used on a small rowing skiff. They're not exactly pretty, but they work well keeping the oars from "walking" out of position.

It doesn't seem that these are neccessary when using the oar sleeve sold at NRS - doesn't in already have the stopper on it? Am I missing something here? THe sleeves recommend using these but I don't see why - they don't fit over the sleeve any how.Asked on 3/2/2013 by sloshed5 answers

There is a slight lip on the Molded Oar sleeve. You might find that works for you. Personally I use stoppers. Try it first without them; you can always add them later.Answered on 3/3/2013 by Clyde from NRSVERIFIED BUYER

I don't know about the sleeves in question. If the sleeves do in fact incorporate collars, separate collars should not be necessary. I wanted the old-style, traditional sleeves, so I made my own from black-dyed leather and copper tacks. Then I mounted the collars over the leather. See attached photo for better explanation.

You don't need stoppers at all if you have pins and clips. If you have oarlocks, you can probably mount your sleeves in such a spot that they would function also as stoppers. But if you mount the sleeves closer to the handle (where I would mount them if I were using them) then you also need the stopper. Yeah if you are buying the sleeves they
have a stopper and you are good, I made
that mistake and bought the big ones to fit
over the sleeves, so I couldn't even use
them on my spare oar. Hey NRS label the
sleeves as sleeves/stopper I was confused.

The oar sleeve has a weeny little lip - not really a stopper. I don't
think it would hold up very long on its own. I have the stopper butted
right up to that lip - fits over the sleeve just fine both on my
Carlisles and on the Sawyers (had to spread the sleeve a little for the
Sawyer)
