Keeps your oar blade in the right position for full-power strokes.
  • The spline of the Oar Right fits between the horns of an open oarlock to "lock" your oar blade in position for the most effective stroke.

  • You can still feather the oar blade by simply tugging the oar in so the spline of the Oar Right clears the oarlock horns.

  • For Carlisle and Cataract oars, use the Molded Oar Sleeve with the Oar Right for proper fit.

  • The Oar Right clamps securely to the Molded Oar Sleeve with two beefy stainless steel bolts. (Sleeves sold separately.)

  • Molded glass fill Nylon construction will give you years of troublefree service.
Note: Instructions that come with the Oar Rights say to put a screw (which is provided) through the tip of the spline into the oar shaft. This is only applicable if you're using it on a wooden oar. DO NOT do this on Carlisle or Cataract oars, it can damage the shafts.

Large: Adjusts from 2" to 2 1/4" (Carlisle & Cataraft Oars with Oar Sleeve)

Small: Adjusts from 1 3/8" to 1 5/8" (Bluewater Oars and Economy Oars using XS Oar Sleeve)
  • Fits Cataract factory rope wrap
  • Material: Molded Glass fill Nylon
  • Dimensions:
  • Large: Adjusts from 2" to 2 1/4" (Carlisle & Cataract Oars with Oar Sleeve)
  • Small: Adjusts from 1 3/8" to 1 5/8" (Bluewater Oars and Economy Oars using XS Oar Sleeve)

        Comments about Oar Rights:

I use these on a Porta-Bote upgraded rowing setup on lakes and flat water. I use Caviness composite aluminum oars very similar to the Carlisle economy oar but they come in a longer length I wanted. I also us Outcast oarlocks though I would buy the Gigbob ones here to do it again. This system works great! It's nice and tight and the oar with oar right strokes perfect every time. The oar only slides in at the throat so they can't pop out .

                  Q:

Can these be used with the Sawyer Utility oars (that come with the oar sleeve already on them)? If so, which size is appropriate?

                    A:

I'm using these right now with rope wrapped Cataract oars with no problem. I've also used them on Carlisle oars with the sleeves so I think it shouldn't be a problem with the Sawyers.

                    A:

At 1 13/16" in diameter on the rubber sleeve, the Utility oar falls right smack in the gap between the two Oar Right sizes. You can squeeze the Small on the sleeve (it has some give) but you'll need longer stainless steel bolts.

                    A:

I do not have any personal experience with the Sawyer Utility oars, but the Sawyer website has the following info.
                    OAR RIGHTS
The Innovative Oar Right is a oar stopper with a guide that fits between your oarlock horns and keeps the oar blade in a vertical position. Helps position your oar for the most effective, powerful stoke. Can be used over your oar shaft protection of choice (rope wrap, plastic sleeve, etc.).
Convertible version can flip up and out of the way when you want to be able to feather your oar or locked down for full-power strokes.
The Stub version allows you to choke up on the oar to clear the oar lock for a quick feathering option. Features:
                    • Oar stopper & guide for maximum stroke efficiency
                    • Molded, glass filled nylon for durability
                    • Easy to install 2 piece clamp on style with stainless steel bolts
                    • Designed to fit over oar shaft protection
                    Specifications:
                    • Large Oar-Right: fits 1-7/8" to 2" diameter oars (most whitewater models)
                    • Small Oar-Right: fits 1-3/8" to 1-5/8" diameter oars (most small craft models)
                    • Convertible Oar-Right: fits 1-7/8" to 2" diameter oars (most whitewater models)
                    • Large Stub Oar-Right: fits 1-7/8" to 2" diameter oars (most whitewater models)
                    • Small Stub Oar-Right: fits 1-3/8" to 1-5/8" diameter oars (most small craft models)
