This is a boring little item that most of us pay little attention too until you run across some of lesser quality which is what happened with the purchase of a new boat. It used two of these to adjust the seat and were pathetic. They were replaced with the NRS version and I'm now a happy paddler.
Was this a gift?:
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I don't know if the manf can establish the working load and ultimate load for the buckle alone since it is part of a system. The limit state would be the strap rather than the buckle. I just bought some straps for work. Those straps had a factor of safety between 3 and 4 between the working load and the ultimate load. If your loads are less than 1500 lbs or so, the buckle will be fine. That load is limited by the width of the strap. Andy Sent from my iPhone
