I like this alternative to the now super expensive metal military variety. They seem to be holding up well so far, they keep the repair kit light. Spit makes a good lube as needed.
Note that the body diameter is slightly larger than some of the valves they replace. I did run into a rat who needed to borrow one and he could not get it to fit in his tubes (can't remember his boat, want to say vintage avon or riken). I know these fit our old udesco and riken boats.

I've replaced many valves over the past 37 years....this had to be the most difficult to install. It holds air but it's tough to open and close. With that exception, it's a great valve...I shouldn't have to relace that valve again during the remaining life of the raft.

These valves fit perfectly when I needed to replace the old valves on my shredder. The problem is, when stored outside, these valves become very difficult to open, and can sometimes "melt". Just do not store them with the valve all the way open, or all the way closed, and you'll be just fine.

I am planning to use just the outer screw-in portion of this product in an already-installed inner-portion. I Need the threads to be M18 and the pitch to be 1.5 (fine). What are the screw thread specificstions ?

I'm not sure of the thread specs, but these valves are a one piece valve. Simply pull out the old and in with the new. The only time I've ever seen them in two parts is when they've already broken.Answered on 9/15/2012 by Anonymous

This valve attaches to the military valve boot with six small screws. Hoover over the product photo with your cursor and you'll see the holes. So, this valve doesn't fit your needs.Answered on 9/16/2012 by Clyde from NRS
