Comments about Pennel Orca® Doughnut Patch for Leafield:

Good stout stuff. I used the back of the boot to match my Avon. Not possible with d-ring patches.

Used to replace Military style valves.

Comments about Pennel Orca® Doughnut Patch for Leafield:

I cut out the old Military valves, and glued the doughnut over the hole. I made a larger ring out of some boat material I had, and glued the edge of the doughnut down again. Replaced the valves with Leafield C7's. The only thing that would have made this conversion better, would have been to put another doughnut on the inside of the tube, but it worked very well, and I had my dose of Tolulene for the year! 8 days on the Green, and I never added air to my boat.

          • Pennel Orca® Doughnut Patch for Leafield

            Q:

Is this hypalon or PVC? My boat is hypalon, so if these are PVC is there any way I can make them work?
            Thanks

              A:

My boat is not PVC but I am not sure if it is hypalon either. It is a Headwaters boat. The patches worked out great with the glue and are holding up to the whitewater. Definitely wait the time period on the instructions before applying the patch. I set one too soon and it didn't come out as well as the second one, (I waited longer).

These are hypalon. Read about Pennel Orca here - http://www.nrsweb.com/tech_talk/pennel_orca.asp

They are hypalon. I used them on my neoprene DIB and they worked great - should be perfect for your boat - just make sure you buy the right adhesive.

Yes, these rings work with Hypalon. I used a couple when completely
replacing the valves on a VERY old Avon Redcrest Hypalon dinghy. Despite
my amateurish job, the boat doesn't leak. Recommended.

              John,
I believe Pennel Orca is the NRS equivalent of hypalon.

Wow. Kinda strange that I got this email out of nowhere? I guess it must be a result of my purchase of these 2+ years ago?
I used these on an old Campways (Riken) Hypalon boat and they worked fine. They are not plastic coated.
