Comments about PTC Canoe/Raft Paddle: OK, this is a livery paddle, plain and simple. Nothing fancy. They are not as tuff as Carlisles, but are much lighter and have a decent power face. I never want to swing another Carlisle all day again, that's for sure. To the folks below - you are professional guides but too cheap to buy a decent guide stick?? Don't know if i'd want you as my guide!! Anyway, I bought a pair of these to loan out to friends who borrow canoes and don't respect decent paddles and they work just fine for that. When canoe tripping we carry 2 bent shafts for flatwater and a Werner Nat for the stern and one of these for the bow for whitewater (and as spares). Works great.

Cons Best Uses Comments about PTC Canoe/Raft Paddle: an older guide at my outpost recommended this to me. i thought it would snap before the summer was out being so inexpensive. it is by far my favorite paddle i've guided with. i'm only 5 ft tall and don't have much weight to pull around, but the length of the shaft helps and the width of the blade gives me more pull. i like the way the t grip feels but that's the only complaint i would have, that it's a bit fat and gets jerked out of my hand more easily than the carlisle if i snag a rock. great paddle!

Comments about PTC Canoe/Raft Paddle: The two reviewers before me both attested to having used the paddle as a guide stick. I work with people the use it as a guide stick, and they're either happy enough with it or don't really like it. I thought it was worthless. I am only 155lbs and I've snapped 2 of these in a matter of only a few trips...glad they were free trials. I was also irritated at how many strokes I had to take compared to guide sticks with bigger blades. All in all, it's great for passengers, not guides.

Cons Best Uses Comments about PTC Canoe/Raft Paddle: Paddle was too long so I sold it & got the shorter length of the same style & I love it for guiding!
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about PTC Canoe/Raft Paddle: I have used this paddle for the past four seasons as a professional raft guide - several trips each week getting used and abused. For the money, this paddle is hard to beat. The shaft is bigger and stiffer than the other paddles in this price range, and I have found that it won't bend like my previous paddles, but I have broken one - and promptly ordered a second.
