I have only used this product once so far. I have been kayaking steadily since 1992 and I have sailed a Sunfish a few times. With one hand for the sail and only one hand on the paddle for rudder control, I felt I did not have enough hands for full control of the sail and boat. Therefore, I intend to add a rudder with foot controls to my kayak for confident control.
Tips to learn faster. Learn to fold sail very well on land as reccommended. Keep the sail out of the water. It will fill with water and become an unwanted brake on one side, and it is tricky to empty and redeploy. Go onto open warm water with gentle winds to learn. If you attempt to learn on the leeside of an island or too close to an obstructed shoreline, the eddies in the wind will be erratic in direction and strength.

Efficient and clever design, pops open when released from where stowed and you are sailing. Very surprised at how stable the boat still is while deployed. Learning the routine to coil back into three coils for storage takes a bit to master. Very easy to sail or de-power in a hurry with just one line to hold. I put two small loops of non-stretch cord on the deck for attachment as it performs better when attached to a non-stretch cord. Brings a big smile to my face when I pop it up and start sailing along and makes me look forward to long open stretches on big water. Always draws comments and interests from other boaters.

This sail really really works well! Effective and simple to use. You don't know how complex the design is because it is so easy and simple to use. Launching and taking down/stowing is very quick.
Pulls like a happy, well-behaved dog on a leash. I couldn't stop smiling the first day I used it. Felt like I was hitching a free ride.

I bought the sail as a gift, but have used it a few times myself. The boat we used was a 19' SEda with a rudder. It worked fine. It was nice using the rudder to steer, but I'm not sure it is necessary. My question would be about the "rigging" on the sit on top, ie. can you secure it close enough to use.

I bought the middle size of the 3 offered & use it on a 12ft Wilderness Sysestem's Pamlico 120. I did not have a rudder at first, but quickly acquired one after using the sail. It is too hard to deal with the sail & also try to steer with a paddle. I have also used this same sail on my 14ft We-no-nah solo canoe & it worked just fine (other than the rudder issue). Once I got the rudder installed on the Kayak, it was easy sailing...steering with my feet & just holding the line for the sail. I really like it a lot.

I don't have your kayak but I've tried the "Adventure Kayak Sail" (middle sized one) on a similar 13' sit-on-top and on a two person inflatable kayak. It moves the inflatable up stream against a 3 knot current just fine and the hard shell, scoots along great!
I would advise using a rudder if it's available. I use one hand will be on the sail sheet and one hand on a paddle to act as a center board while tacking. The rudder makes steering much simpler. If you don't want to sail too close into the wind, you may not need the rudder.
The sail a standard piece of gear for me, just like a PFD. Hope this helps.

I have the "Adventure" sail and have used it with my 16 ft touring kayak.
I works well, is easy to put up and take down, but needs a pretty stiff
wind to generate much speed. In light-to-moderate winds, the sail will
keep you moving but not any faster than paddling. I have never been in a
fishing kayak but imagine that it may be a bit wider and heavier than mine,

this is a awesome sail if you choose it.
Will it work on your SOT fishing yak? Yes you'll have to devote about 20" dia area to store the sail when folded and you'll need 2 eye's to anchor it to the boat.
You may not actually NEED a rudder; but you'll need 2 hands to launch the sail and one to control it. A rudder simplfies the use of this product..
Size of a rudder or size of sail? I use my 42" windpaddle on a 18' 6" sea kayak by Easy Rider. They probably have the best rudder system on the market.
I have sailed in winds up to 20knots and in 2-3' swells any thing bigger and I might as well paddle and surf. It performs best in flat water and 10-15knots.
This is a great sail to broad, beam reach and of course run with the wind; just rememeber to heat 'er up every now and then.

I use my paddle to steer. Also added zip ties to my deck rigging to speed attachment of the sail. I use it on a 111Loon and on a 16' tandem (use rudder).. The sail works well on both. All you need is some wind blowing in the direction you want to go. Otherwise can tack a little and can steer the boat with the sail. good luck!
