I had to use this the first day out in my Kayak. Scratch that, the first minute. I jumped into my new Kayak and went right over. Should have stabilized with my paddle. I had a ton of water which pumped out quickly and easily. Straps to my deck bag nicely. It was well worth the money.

Comments about NRS Kayak Bilge Pump with Float:

Fortunately we haven't had the opportunity to use our pump, but it appears it is of good construction and stores easily in our kayaks. We decided to go with this pump after reading previous comments about this pump versus comments from others.

Comments about NRS Kayak Bilge Pump with Float:

This pump is a great deal for recreational paddlers who rarely, if ever, roll or get swamped. Not sure if it would hold up to frequent use (if you need a pump that often, invest in a spray skirt!), but having one of these along could be the difference between a day-ending fiasco and a laugh-about-it inconvenience.

Hi. I don’t know where it’s made, but I assume that any pump for a SEA kayak could handle salt water. While I have it on my boat, I’ve never used it.

parts questions should be answered by the manufacturer.
I have used that pump in salt water for 25 years, no problems-just rince when you are done.

Couldn't disassemble the pump to check inside, but I am willing to bet the internal parts are plastic. Two screws on exterior may or may not be stainless. They seem superfluous as I couldn't pull the assembly apart even when i took them out (they may have used PVC glue). One rivet on top handle connects to the shaft - doubtful that is stainless. It appears shinier than aluminum rivets.
Yellow parts (#6 Plastic) are made in China.
I have used this pump pack-rafting on fresh water, but not on salt. I have used pumps like this for years, sea kayaking in warm and cold ocean water. No failures, though they can be "sticky" if they have been stored for months without having been rinsed in fresh water.
I wouldn't sweat the components, and I doubt you would find a US made product. If that is a hang-up, I bet they wouldn't be that hard to make.
                Good Luck.
