Made of highly visible and durable Cordura®, NRS throw bags quickly secure to D-rings, boat frames or canoe thwarts with quick-release 1" straps. Internal flotation and floating rescue rope keeps our Rescue Bags on top of the water. 2" mesh panel for better drainage and reduced dry time. Barrel-lock drawstring incorporated in a flared nylon top for smoother throws, plus easy reloading and closure. Pro models include reflective tape on the bag for increased visibility.

Rope knots reduce tensile strength. for this reason, we make no claims regarding a rescue bag's strength. Maximum load indicated is for the rope alone.
  • Rope Length:  70'
  • Rope Material:  Dyneema®
  • Rope Diameter:  1/4"
  • Load Max:  2608 lbs.
  • Features:
    • Mesh on top of bag for quicker drying
    • Reflective tape on throw bag

This is my go to rope when things are going sideways fast. I love the way this thing unspools so easily. I keep mine between my knees in my boat so it is quickly accessible.

Comments about NRS Pro Compact Rescue Throw Bag:

Every class 5 paddler should carry this bag or an equivalent while on the river. Small and compact enough to fit in the stern of any creekboat and lightweight enough even when wet that you won't notice the extra weight. Who cares really about the weight because when the excrement hits the fan your buddies count on you to carry the proper safety gear. When carried in conjunction with the Astral Buoyancy Spectra Throw Bag you have the coverage you'll need to rope your buddy out of that nasty siphon!

How does dyneema rope compare with polypro rope?

                  A:

Dyneema is a LOT stronger than polypro, it also floats and dries quickly.
very high abrasion resistance and remains stable under severe sunlight exposure.
                  great rescue rope.

                  A:

Both float, but Dyneema is much stronger. Take a look at this article for the details - http://www.nrsweb.com/tech_talk/Know_The_Ropes.asp - The core of Dyneema is made of the Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. It has an outer sheath of polypro for grip and flotation.

Since this Throw Bag is a Compact version, will the "Wild Water Supply Snag Plate" work with it.

                  A:

The Snag Plate is 4 1/4" in diameter and so is the Throw Bag. It'll be a snug fit but should work.

Will this fit into my Astral Aquavest in the throw pocket? What are the dimensions, it's hard to gauge as I have nothing to compare it with.

No, it's too large to fit inside a pocket. It's roughly the size of a
                  water bottle.

                  A:

I don't think it will. I wear the Astral Green jacket so it is not a perfect comparison but it would not fit in my jacket. The wedge throw bag might fit but even it will make the jacket fell somewhat bulky. I wear the guardian waist throw bag in-stead of putting a throwbag in my pfd. Hope that helps.

I think overheard of it being done.   Maybe have to park the car on ir overnight shorten the rope? I also have the Salamander. Think  it is smaller and was less expensive. I can measure the 2 when I get home.  ****@***.***
