Prusik Cord Q: Can you tell me which size the yellow rope in the picture is ? It is the 4th one down from the top. Thanks, Dennis Scott Asked on 5/16/2013 by Dennis from Brewster, NY Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: Dennis, the photo is just a representative shot of what the cords may look like. We don't get to pick colors for them; one time a size may be yellow, the next time red. You can always call us, 800.635.5202, and we can check what sizes and colors are in stock. Prusik Cord Q: I don't see a selection for which color. Is it possible to pick the colors? Asked on 9/7/2012 by Melodi from Oviedo, FL Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: The colors are assorted. One shipment of a size will be one color and the next may be another. If you give us a call or drop us a line we'll be glad to check what's currently in stock. Answered on 9/7/2012 by Clyde from NRS
Prusik Cord Q: Is there a recommended thickness for sea kayak deck lines? Asked on 9/5/2012 by Melodi from Oviedo, FL Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: Dear Melodi: I used 4 mm and 5 mm prusik cord to replace some deck lines on my Valley Avocet. I also used some 3/16 " bungee cord for lateral lines. Perhaps you could order some short lengths from NRS to compare them to your existing lines. If you're near a marine supply store like West Marine, they'll have cords and bungees on spools for you to take a look at. Best- Wendell Answered on 9/5/2012 by Anonymous A: At 1,034 lbs. tensile strength, the 4-mm is plenty strong enough. Also, many kayakers use bungee cord and we carry three diameters of that. Answered on 9/6/2012 by Clyde from NRS A: Personally, I think that 5mm prussik cord is plenty. Not too thick. Not too thin. Answered on 9/9/2012 by Anonymous
