Dennis, the photo is just a representative shot of what the cords may look like. We don't get to pick colors for them; one time a size may be yellow, the next time red. You can always call us, 800.635.5202, and we can check what sizes and colors are in stock.

I don't see a selection for which color. Is it possible to pick the colors?

The colors are assorted. One shipment of a size will be one color and the next may be another. If you give us a call or drop us a line we'll be glad to check what's currently in stock.

                            Dear Melodi:
I used 4 mm and 5 mm prusik cord to replace some deck lines on my Valley Avocet. I also used some 3/16 " bungee cord for lateral lines. Perhaps you could order some short lengths from NRS to compare them to your existing lines. If you're near a marine supply store like West Marine, they'll have cords and bungees on spools for you to take a look at.

At 1,034 lbs. tensile strength, the 4-mm is plenty strong enough. Also, many kayakers use bungee cord and we carry three diameters of that.

Personally, I think that 5mm prussik cord is plenty. Not too thick. Not too
                            thin.
