Pete, if it's adapters to connect to the valve that you need, the Leafield Valve Adapter, Item # 14821 is the best. It screws onto the Leafield C7 valve for a secure coupling with the pump.

    Q:

re the weight stated - what does this represent? Also would this apply to all your inflatable boards?
    Thanks Susanne

      A:

Susanne, the weight in the specs is the physical weight of the board itself. Re carrying capacity, the Earl 4 is a good choice for paddlers weighing up to 190 pounds.

  • NRS Earl 4 Inflatable SUP Board

    Q:

What is the function of the raised deck area on the rear of the board over the fins? Also what is the maximum psi inflation for this board and could you elaborate on its construction and its ability to withstand and allow for constant river running abuse?
    Thanks. Walker.
Asked on 4/1/2013 by none from eugene, or.

      A:

Walker, the angled area on the rear of the board is called a "stomp pad." It allows you to plant a foot, transferring weight to the stern, allowing the bow to rise and letting you make a quick pivot turn. We recommend ~ 15 psi air pressure to get good rigid board performance. This article - http://www.nrsweb.com/tech_talk/dropstitch.asp - gives some good info about drop-stitch construction.

  • NRS Earl 4 Inflatable SUP Board

    Q:

My husband and I are considering buying 2 inflatable SUPs. We already own 2 regular SUPs. My husband weighs about 175 and I weigh about 140. Is there any advantage for us to get the 6 in versus the 4 in.
Also what paddle do you recommend?
Asked on 3/24/2013 by Carole from Des Moines, Iowa

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Carole, the Earl 4 will work most efficiently for paddlers 195 pounds or less, so it should work for both of you. If he thinks he might pack gear along that would exceed that limit, he should consider the Earl 6.

As to paddles, since you already have SUPs, the paddle you already have should be fine. The general rule of thumb is to choose a paddle 8" longer than your height for surfing and river running and one 10" longer for touring and fitness paddling. We've got a number of great paddles and the ones with adjustable lengths offer excellent versatility.
