    Comments about MEK PVC Solvent:

I bought a used whitewater raft that the glue was failing on and used this product to restore the entire raft. I was able to clean the old glue off and any other substances with ease.
it did a great job preparing the surface to except the new glue.

MEK is a very aggressive solvent and will dissolve some plastics. I think you'd be safer using another product. I suggest you check with some auto shops to see what they would recommend.

What a great question. Will MEK clean out discoloration inside a gas tank?
I've never tried it so I can't tell you. But the discoloration is probably through the thickness of the plastic, caused by the chemical reaction between sunlight / fuel additives and cheep plastic. What I would be concerned the problems that you will cause to the fuel system in your engine. If you do it and the tank comes out well it'll sure look nice but if it gums up your carburetor and leaves you stuck at the dock it won't matter how pretty it is. I would suggest clean the inside of the tank by sloshing some fresh fuel in the tank, disposing of it properly, or let it evaporate from a shallow tray and then if the color really bothers you use the MEK to prep the outside of the tank for spray paint formulated for plastic and paint it. Good luck!
