                        A:

                        A good canvas kayak material has very little stretch. Depending on the thread most of the stretch will be in the width as the length is pretensioned in the material. Good material for kayak is canvas duck and will only strech about 2%. The term streching the canvas refers to pulling it very tight rather than increasing its dimension.

                        Hello, hypalon has very little stretch... I would  cut the material down the middle ,then glue a butt joint down the middle with the backer on the inside and presto you have as wide as you need..

                        Extremely little stretch. You would have to go lengthwise with the material to get your 59", or glue on an extension.
