it was intimidating to get started (sanding the raft). watch the video at leasat 5x's (for me, watching the video was helpful). when i had questions, answers are readily available online, the NRS staff is a valuable tool. i purchased the NRS stern seat/side rails/motor mount for my inflatable. the pvc material was used in areas where the bars/connectors come in contact with the raft (added security/maybe just peace of mind). ONLY RECOMMENDATION i would make, in areas where material does not lay out flat, and the size/cut is in an ackward place or unusual cut, over seams at the stern, use more than one set of hands for final placement.

I am no expert but it seems logical to me the boat be deflated so both
materials stretch at the same rate when inflated. Maybe partially inflate

It’s best to have it inflated during prep, just to make sure you don’t miss anything in a crease, etc. but not absolutely necessary. It is also much easier with it inflated.Answered on 2/22/2013 by AnonymousVERIFIED BUYER

I would recommend inflating & pressurizing the boat prior to applying
the rub guard. This ensures that it is installed in the same state in
which it will be used, and that any stretch that may occur is also
duplicated.
I installed one of these in this fashion years ago, and it has been

It can be done either way. When the AIRE material is being coated, the inner woven fabric is stretched taut as the coating is applied, so the finished product stretches very little.Answered on 2/22/2013 by Clyde from NRS
