Your basic repair kit while on the move. Not the greatest on dry wear gaskets because of the stretch but gets you back on the water in a hurry. Seems like a great product for less stretchy uses but haven't had a chance to try it on anything but a ripped gasket yet

This product is a great way to do a quick, field patch on your raft. I put on a patch with the intention of removing it later for a more permanent patch. That was two years ago and it's still holding nicely.

I bought this tape for pin holes in my raft. I used it for patching Neoprene Waders on a 10 day float trip. The next year when I got the waders out I remembered the tear. 5 years latter. I'm still using the same waders.

Why would you want to put it on underwater?  If you need to find the hole, using submersion, that's fine, but never put a patch on underwater. Find the hole, scratch a mark for reference. Shore the boat, dry and treat the area, apply patch. It may be waterproof, once applied, but not if you dunk the open adhesive into water.

I have not applied this under water so I can't comment directly on this question. Last year on the Kuujjuua River in the Canadian arctic I had a very positive experience with this product. We were paddling a very remote river on Victoria Island. The first time I put on my drysuit the neck gasket ripped. a friend's similar experience with a duct tape repair was not good. In my case I repaired both sides of the gasket with Tear-Aid- it was comfortable around my neck, and it held up for 3 weeks of nearly continued use!!!
I am back on Victoria Island again this year (Nanook River) and I there will be Tear-Aid in my emergency kit!!!

No it does not work that way!!! You have to get a dry, clean surface to adhere to.

It will certainly work for a while but is a suboptimal solution for a permanent fix. You can certainly find better products for fixing a hole in a roto-molded kayak.

Most rotomolded kayaks are made of polyethylene and Type A sticks to that.

                        A:

I think it could. It wouldn't be completely invisible against the leather
but it has kind of a satin finish so it would match as good as anything else
I could think of. It is very flexible and sticks very tightly to the
material. I used it to repair a gel filled ear seal on a pilot's headset,
which is made of very thin flexible plastic. Even though I couldn't get all
the silicone gel cleaned off before I applied the tape, it held for over a
year, until I finally replaced the ear seals on the headset.

Yes, the Type A Tear-Aid will stick to leather. Be sure to clean the area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils that will interfere with adhesion.

From my experience, yes it could hold together a tear in a leather couch. I have never encountered tape like this, it is permanent. If you use it, you have to put it on perfectly the first time. You can not pull it back off and any places you let the tape double on to it self you can not undo. Practice on something first.
