Tear-Aid Patch - Type A Q: Will this work on a thin cotton tshirt material? Asked on 5/28/2013 by laura from Sonoma, CA Know the answer? Answer this question 4 answers A: No, it will show, big-time; and I doubt it would stick for long. Used it on tons of other stuff (all smooth synthetics) with great success. Boats, tents, jackets, sleeping bags, dry-bags, etc. Every repair kit should have both A and B tear-aid. Harry Answered on 5/28/2013 by Anonymous A: I believe it would. Pretty quality stuff! Respectfully, Dennis Answered on 5/28/2013 by Anonymous A: Laura, it should work fine. Answered on 5/28/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: No, totally not suitable for that application. It will not bend and will not survive washing. G Answered on 5/28/2013 by Anonymous
Tear-Aid Patch - Type A Q: Can this be applied underwater? Asked on 4/30/2013 by Rich from Fort Hood Tx Know the answer? Answer this question 4 answers A: Why would you want to put it on underwater? If you need to find the hole, using submersion, that's fine, but never put a patch on underwater. Find the hole, scratch a mark for reference. Shore the boat, dry and treat the area, apply patch. It may be waterproof, once applied, but not if you dunk the open adhesive into water. Answered on 4/30/2013 by bobbyb004 from Scranton, PA A: I have not applied this under water so I can't comment directly on this question. Last year on the Kuujjuua River in the Canadian arctic I had a very positive experience with this product. We were paddling a very remote river on Victoria Island. The first time I put on my drysuit the neck gasket ripped. a friend's similar experience with a duct tape repair was not good. In my case I repaired both sides of the gasket with Tear-Aid- it was comfortable around my neck, and it held up for 3 weeks of nearly continued use!!! I am back on Victoria Island again this year (Nanook River) and I there will be Tear-Aid in my emergency kit!!! Dave Plante Answered on 4/30/2013 by Anonymous A: No it does not work that way!!! You have to get a dry, clean surface to adhere to. Answered on 4/30/2013 by Anonymous A: No it cant. Apply when the surface is dry. It was touch water after 4 hours Answered on 4/30/2013 by Anonymous
Tear-Aid Patch - Type A Q: Will this work as a repair patch for a roto-mold kayak out in the field? Asked on 1/8/2013 by slvrodo from Indio, CA Know the answer? Answer this question 5 answers A: Small hole yes, large hole I would not trust it. Hg Sent from my iPhone Answered on 1/8/2013 by G from Ozark mo A: It will certainly work for a while but is a suboptimal solution for a permanent fix. You can certainly find better products for fixing a hole in a roto-molded kayak. G Answered on 1/8/2013 by Anonymous A: Most rotomolded kayaks are made of polyethylene and Type A sticks to that. Answered on 1/8/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: fast cure with 3M marine is 3 days in Yuma Answered on 1/8/2013 by Anonymous A: it should work as a temp. patch. its tough stuff Answered on 1/9/2013 by Anonymous
Tear-Aid Patch - Type A Q: Can this product be used to repair a tear in the armrest of a leather couch? Asked on 12/20/2012 by hollywood from san diego, ca Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: I think it could. It wouldn't be completely invisible against the leather but it has kind of a satin finish so it would match as good as anything else I could think of. It is very flexible and sticks very tightly to the material. I used it to repair a gel filled ear seal on a pilot's headset, which is made of very thin flexible plastic. Even though I couldn't get all the silicone gel cleaned off before I applied the tape, it held for over a year, until I finally replaced the ear seals on the headset. Martin B. Answered on 12/20/2012 by Anonymous A: Yes, the Type A Tear-Aid will stick to leather. Be sure to clean the area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils that will interfere with adhesion. Answered on 12/20/2012 by Clyde from NRS A: From my experience, yes it could hold together a tear in a leather couch. I have never encountered tape like this, it is permanent. If you use it, you have to put it on perfectly the first time. You can not pull it back off and any places you let the tape double on to it self you can not undo. Practice on something first.
