Tear-Aid Patch - Type B
- The Tear-Aid Type B is for vinyl/PVC ONLY. The oils in these materials and coatings require the special adhesive in Type B.
- Patching is oh so easy. Select the right size patch for the job. Clean the repair surface with an alcohol prep pad or rubbing alcohol. When the area is dry, just peel the backing off the Tear-Aid patch and stick it on. No mess, no muss, no fuss.
- The unique adhesive on Type B resists the oils in vinyl that cause other adhesives to soften and turn gummy in sunlight.
- Available in kit form and in rolls 3"W x 5'L.
- Patches are airtight and watertight, even under pressure when stretched.
- The patches are see-through, so the color of your gear shows right through.
- It's UV resistant and conforms to irregular surfaces.
- Don't throw away that gear - patch it with Tear-Aid.

We have an inflatable dingy which leaked water along floor. Outside of a very expensive repair at local shop we could not find any product that worked on the PVC material. The Tear-Aid Type B tape has sealed the leaks and appears to be holding up.

I actually used this on our garage mats - they are made out of material similar to rafts. It works great! Repaired all the small holes and tears without adding any bulk.

The kit has two alcohol wipes, one small patch about the size of a postage stamp and a large patch that is 3" x 12". I purchased the patch kit as a precaution and have not had an opportunity to use it on my Vanguard raft. I ensure I put in our "rafting bag", along with a pair of scissors, in case of emergency. Frankly, I would not trust these patches as a permanent fix. They appear to be enough to get you down the river and through the trip--nothing more.

I got the 3" by 5' roll--so I can cut to size. I recommend that, because there are times when a boat can get a long cut or rip. My choice over patches
PVC IS vinyl--as in polyvinyl chloride, although there are a couple other "vinyl" products: Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) andPolyethylene Vinyl Acetate (PEVA) a copolymer of polyethylene and EVA. Just be sure to get the Type B Tear-Aid for vinyl. Type A is for Hypalon. And remember that the chemical bond strengthens over some hours. I used type B to repair a vinyl liner in an AIRE boat and used it immediately with no problem.

I haven't had an opportunity to use my kit yet. However, I have used some clear tape from a RV store that works well on my camper awning. Just look for awning repair tape and follow the cleaning instructions. It can be used right away.

For small holes this product works surprisingly well and is really quick. You only use the Type B if your boat is PVC not Hyplon or other. I think saturn inflatables are PVC, but I am not positive. If it is Hyplon you need Type A, which I have not used.
