I bought 2 of these great helmets for my girlfriend and myself. We were taking a Class III/IV paddling trip down the "Lower Yough" in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. The helmet gave us an instant feeling of security upon donning the unit. The inner padding was substantial with all around head coverage. The construction is superior to a lot of different helmets that I have looked to purchase. The style of the helmet is pretty sweet as well! My girl friend was thrown into the water and said that she was thankful that I purchased the helmet because she collided with a rock and the helmet did its job! (side note: I would have been afraid to go into the drink with the helmets that the 'outfitter' provided). Also, there are ventilation/water evac ports in several places but the helmet can still become a bit sweaty (but that can also be attributed to your level of physical exertion). Overall it is great helmet that I would highly recommend.

the dial on the back of the helmet uto adjust the size is located directly on my occipital bone on the back of my head, and is painful to wear for hours at a time. I wore it this weekend for about 5 hours sat & sun, and my head occipital bone still is tender 24 hrs later. might want to check if it fits your head first. you really get what you pay for here!!! dont be cheap its your head!!! :)

Comments about NRS Havoc Livery Helmet:

I bought this for a March whitewater canoe trip and loved it. The adjustability of the helmet did not make it feel any less secure. It tightened up nicely to point where I wanted it, and it stayed there for hours of paddling. It was comfortable worn alone as well as over my skull cap. Good value for the price.

Comments about NRS Havoc Livery Helmet:

The NRS Havoc helmet is a great choice as a spare helmet for friends or relatives you wish to introduce kayaking or for clubs, schools and business that need an adjustable helmet. This helmet covers sizes from Small through to Large, it was necessary for me to purchase additional helmets of another model to fit Extra Small heads and Extra Large Heads. Care should be taken with the adjustment mechanism as it doesnt seem overly robust.
Overall I like this helmet, it was reasonably priced and with the adjustment gave me three helmet sizes in one. One size fits most.

I've only used this in the pool for 2hr sessions and have not had any issues. Quick and easy to adjust, can move the adjuster up or down slightly. Its my 1st helmet, but I've enjoyed it so far well for how inexpensive it is.

Comments about NRS Havoc Livery Helmet:

We bought enough of these to equip all of our first out fire apparatus with one for each firefighter. We replaced Pro-tec helmets with these due to age and Pro-tec having discontinued their helmets. The NRS helmet is very comfortable my only concern is the ratchet not being as sturdy feeling as I would expect, we have not had any issues as of yet.

I do not know the laws with respect to biking, but the helmet is probably a bit heavy for bike riding.

                  A:

I would not recommend it, even if it did meet the standards. Bike helmets are vented differently to provide much greater airflow to the head, which gets very hot with strenuous riding. A whitewater helmet will not provide adequate cooling.

Brent, we can't recommend it. Helmets for different sports are tested differently. Boating helmets are certified under CE EN 1385, a different standard from bike helmets. This article has some further thoughts on the matter - http://www.nrsweb.com/boating_tips/boatingHelmets.asp

I don't know about CPSc standards, but If it can protect your noggin from
rocks in the water...I'm sure this helmet is safe for occasional bike
riding. If you're a serious bike rider though, I would
recommend investing in a bike helmet. They are much lighter and better
                  ventilated for riding
