The NRS Super Stretch Neoprene Cockpit cover stretches over your kayak's cockpit to keep out weather, debris and critters. Super stretchy neoprene and an adjustable shock cord make it a snap to install on any kayak.
  • Two sizes fit all! The stretchy, adjustable Stretch Neoprene Cockpit Cover fits a huge range of kayak cockpit sizes. Just choose large or small.

  • Smooth-skin 1.5-mm neoprene sheds water and resists abrasion for long-lasting protection.

  • The shock cord band adjusts to snugly fit your kayak's cockpit combing. Tying a simple knot is all it takes!

  • Important Note: When placing cover on cockpits at the upper end of the two size ranges, it can be a tight fit. Leave the cover on the boat for at least 24 hours to let it stretch a bit and it should be easier to put it on the next time.
  • Deck Material:  1.5-mm Neoprene
  • Rand Type:  Adjustable shock cord
  • Grab Loop:  Nylon handle

Seem's really snug although it hasn't been on while driving yet. It's been doing a great job of keeping the snow & ice out of the boat between trips this winter. getting one for myself for those overnight trips to keep out any critters!

I thought this would be the perfect cover for he oversize cockpit on my kayak. However, after only 2 weeks of use the rubber coating on the neoprene has started wearing off. It gets all over my hands when I put the cover on. Also the elastic bungees used to secure the cover could be a little longer as they are almost too short to tie. Water also pools in the top when it rains and caused the cover to come off.

Comments about NRS Super Stretch Neoprene Cockpit Cover:

I have two kayaks. Both cockpits measure under maximum specs for cover. Took my boyfriend and I to get them on. He strained his neck in the process. Both popped off within 72 hours. Replaced one and it popped off again in 24 hours. Disgusted as I'm out nearly $100.00 for useless covers. IF they would fit, they'd be great.

Perfect for travel with the boats on the roof across the Western States AND high-speed driving! Kept the rain out, and will be perfect for Fall/Winter storage to keep the leaves and critters out when the boats are not being used.
The Small/Medium was plenty big for the cockpit of a Necky Looksha . VERY happy with this product. Thanks

                Q:

I see from the description that the cover sheds water. Does that mean the cover is water resistant or waterproof? For example, if the boat is setting outside in the rain and in the upright position with the cover snug, will the cover eventually allow water to seep in or block it completely?

Snug is only so snug, eventually it will belly and let water in. You also wouldn't want to try keep anything really dry inside.

I cannot answer what it will do in this situation. I can say that I have used it while driving in the rain. Both kayaks were on top of the car sitting on their side. There was no water inside either kayak.

The neoprene material itself is waterproof. The seams around the edge are not taped and not waterproof.

Unfortunately, this cover does allow rain to get into my cockpit. I store my boat in J racks mounted on the back of my garage, so it's more on its side than upright, so maybe that's got something to do with it. This surprises me a bit because the cover fits very snugly.

It can certainly be left on for extended storage. It does not "breathe" so any moisture inside the boat will stay there.

It depends on the length of the cockpit. The larger cockpit need the universal plus. All you need to do is measure your cockpit from front to back and see which one you need.

I have two Bass Pro Ascend D10 kayaks first generation that have 25" X 52" cockpit's.The Universal Plus cover's fit my kayak's.They are tricky to install on my kayak's due to the cockpit size.It may take two people to install.. The only thing that I would change about the cover's if they were 1" longer and wider at least for my Ascend kayak's.

The size of the opening you need to cover determines which one you want..  We bought both sizes because we have 2 kayaks and one has a bigger opening.  Universal plus is larger.

Universal is for 28" - 40" length cockpits and the Plus is for 40" - 57".

The difference is simply the size of the cockpit the item will accommodate.
The universal plus will fit the larger size cockpit: 40"-57" length of
                  cockpit.
