We've developed a quality option for folks looking for a skirt to fit recreational kayaks. The Catalina features all the same materials and workmanship as our other skirts; the only difference is size. The deck and tunnel are crafted with durable, urethane-coated 210-denier nylon oxford with factory taped seams. The deck fits onto your boat with an adjustable shock cord bungee in a GripCote™ sleeve that adheres tightly to the cockpit rim. Adjustable waist bungee on the tunnel ensures a universal fit. This skirt also features two grab loops, one in front and one in the back. The implosion bar helps keep water from pooling onto your skirt.

Waist fits up to 49" on the XS skirt, 52" on the Small and Medium, and 56" on the large size skirt.

I bought this spray skirt to be able to run more challenging routes without swamping my 10' [...] Manatee (read: gussied up Perception Prodigy). In short, I love to tackle holes and standing waves head on, but without a skirt, I'd usually take half of the wave with me due to the Manatee's 54" long by 32" wide cockpit. This gigantic space to cover, accompanied by the tendency of rec boats to have high gunwales with low seats is the only reason I can see for water pooling in the skirt (which is does, but you can easily brush it off with your hand, or simply raise your knees to disperse it over the side. This skirt seems to breath rather well, and the light color means that you won't be roasted alive in your boat in the summer sun. After 12.5 miles on the South Branch of the Potomac while running the biggest holes and waves I could find, I had a scant 2 cups of water in the bottom of my boat (which were most likely from me entering and exiting) while my wife (who ran easier and less swamp-inducing routes) had a few gallons in hers. A definite must-have for rec boaters who like a little white water but aren't ready to move up to a smaller (and more expensive) boat.

Comments about NRS Catalina Sprayskirt:

I have a necky manitou sport. Its a river running boat. The only skirt I can find for my boat is a nylon. I took this into class 1-2. If you get the skirt on as far up as possiable on your chest, you will be ok. It will still kinda pool and then start to slide down.IF you could find the suspender type I think that would be a little better. Its miminal leakage though. Just make sure you pull the skirt TIGHT around the boat.lol (the first wave it came off on me) I would say if you got a big open cockpit boat. Your pretty limited to what you can use. This is good as any.
NRS is pretty solid on all there products

Comments about NRS Catalina Sprayskirt:

I bought two of the skirts to fit the Equinox 10.4 kayak. My wife and I use them on a mountain reservoir and lakes so the water is cold and the skirt does a decent job of keeping you dry. After a long paddle the water does pool on the skirt and the waterproofing is subject to leaking in spots. I sprayed my skirt with ScotchGuard and that helped. Overall the skirt is an excellent buy for the kayak that I have and performs well enough for the money spent

The skirt may serve the function but is a bit narrow for the kayak. To function it will need modification after purchase to stay attached at the midsection where it pulls off the kayak lip.

I use this on my rec kayak for flatwater runs during chilly weather. I have found that over the course of several hours it seems to start soaking up water instead of repelling it. The fabric stops beading and instead becomes dark, and I assume its soaked thru. I did get some water in my boat. If I had to buy one again, I would probably get a heavier material.

          Q:

Should I get a x-small or small for my tsunami 140 with cockpit size of 35.5 x 19.5? It appears that the tunnel on this skirt is shorter than on the NRS Basic skirt. Is it true?

Ruth, you are indeed on the cusp of the two sizes. I suggest you order both and keep the one that fits best. Our returns are easy and free. The Catalina has a 7"H tunnel, the Basic 8". The Catalina is the better skirt.

Sorry that it took so long to get back to you, but yes I have a kayak very
similar to that. Just be sure to get a good size measurement of the
cockpit, and use their sizing chart to get the right fit. You will be able
to make some very small adjustments, but the size chart they have is right
on. Hope you enjoy the skirt as much as I have.

I don't know. My cockpit is 39in long. It was a little loose letting water get in on the sides. I use my kayak in white water which was not very good for this skirt. The water would pool between the body and the front of cockpit.

Equinox only lists the size of the actual opening, not the rim. You'll need to measure it and compare to the sprayskirt's sizing - L- 51"-57" x 19"-22"

Gordo, my online search pulls up a cockpit size for the Manatee of 51.5" x 23.5". The Large Catalina fits 51"-57" x 19"-22", so it should fit. I don't see anything online about a "dash console" so can't comment on whether that would affect fit. I'd say, give it a try, our return policy is easy and free.

It looks like the cockpit on that kayak is pretty large. I al a little
unfamiliar with the dashboard, but if it is mounted on the lip of the
cockpit that will be a problem. looking at pictures on google it looks
like that is not the case. Be sure to get a good measurement on on the
cockpit, and if that is within one of the size limits of the skirt then
there will be no issue. The skirts fit true to size and you can make small
adjustments, but you will need to stick with measurement chart on the site
and not get one that is too small or too big. I hope that helps out.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

I'm not quite understanding this question until I consulted my Seals master cockpit skirts sizing chart which also references Necky manitou bow AND stern cockpits so I'm guessing this is a tandem boat, in which case the bow is sized at a 2.2 and the stern is represented with an asterisk which denotes a custom made skirt. That being said, my daughter's Perception Prodigy cockpit is 51" x 23" and the large Catalina skirt fits nicely with some cinching. Hope this helps. I would reccomend visiting a few different skirt makers sizing charts to get a better sense of which NRS Catalina skirt would fit best.

The best way to check is simply measure the cockpit and go with what the
size chart says, for the measurement range. If you get one that is too
big, or too small it will never fit right. On this spray skirt you can
make small adjustments. I made the mistake of getting one that was too
big, at first. I simply returned it and got the right one. once I got the
right one it fit great, and I would highly recommend this spray skirt to
            anyone with a recreational kayak.
