Instead of paying a crazy high price for a new padded kayak seat, I ordered this then cut and shaped it to fit under the seat that came with the NRS Pike IK. Its very easy to cut and shape. I used a hand saw and some sand paper. It took me all of twenty minutes. This puts me a little higher for fishing, adds some padding for my butt and helps support my thighs. I used the left over pieces to make some floats for my pliers and net.

One of my kayaks had a hatch in teh back, but no divider to keep thing dry back there. So I ordered the Minicell Foam to build that divider and it worked great! easy to cut & install, and has the added bonus of adding more flotation for safety! Definitely recommend this everyone! -=Scott-

This stuff is easy to cut with a coping saw or hack saw. Sandpaper is OK, though DragonSkin makes shaping it a breeze. I made some prototype hip shims for my boat in just a few minutes. I'll make better ones after more paddles. The stuff is easy to use, very reasonably priced, a inexpensive but valuable improvement in boat fitting.
I used heavy hook-and-loop with adhesive backing to mount the pads to my seat cradle, so that I can remove them if necessary or replace them with my next version of shims.
Minicell foam is a durable, inexpensive, fun-to-use material. If you can't paddle that day, you can still spend some quality time with your boat, and the surety you get from not sliding around when edging or bracing is well worth it.

You can buy this stuff already shaped and with grooves for your straps. If you can't find it, another really good alternative is to pass a small line through a pool noodle and strap it to your roof for the board to sit on. I've seen that done with kayaks and worked really well

Boy...I don't know for sure. My first thought is you will have to anchor it to the IK somehow. It will simply push back towards the stern on every stroke unless it is wedged in tight or you anchor it with the drain holes in the Bandit or with the loops in their other model, if they are available.. NRS makes a folding seat that works great in my Bandit. Kind of looks like a Crazy Creek chair. Just have to clip it thru the drain holes before inflating the boat. Takes a little time and adjusting but it works for me. Another idea is to glue some Velcro strips (heavy duty) to the floor of the IK and the bottom of your seat. That should anchor the seat solidly and you can remove the seat whenever you want. What ever you come up with....the big thing is to have something that doesn't move under the soles of your feet so you can push your feet against something solid as you take a stroke. Your knees have to be bent somewhat or your low back will get
tired and sore quickly. A lot of IKers simply paddle with straight legs which will kill your back. NRS also has some foot pegs which can be glued to the boat but you better get them placed in the spot you want the first time.( I have used dry bags on self contained trips but they have to not move when you push your feet against them).
So to make a short story long....have to have something solid for your feet and legs to push on to transfer the energy of your paddle stroke thru your body, down your legs, to the boat, but a seat that wont slide backwards when you push your legs. Hope all this makes sense. Your foam could work but try it out before gluing anything in first.
