PRO:I could never say enough good things about this PFD! I am an adventure guide and LOVE how much this thing can hold! You can even fit a 32oz Nalgene in one pocket with a radio in the other! The built-in tow/rescue system is GREAT for towing stranded paddlers. It feels like the entire jacket is getting pulled on, not just your waist... The universal mounting locations are in great positions for maximum accessibility. Strobe over the shoulder is high enough to be seen nearly at any angle. Multiple knife locations that don't interfere with the zip up and reflective stripes all the way around.CON:Yes it is heavy and yes it does restrict your torsional movement alittle. To me that doesn't matter because of how useful and great the PFD feels. The weight seems irrelevant once you get use to it. The ONLY thing I would change is the pads for the shoulder straps never seem to stay in place...(they flip in our out leaving the webbing on your shoulder)BOTTOMLINE:I will buy this PFT until I die... It is the single best PFD I have ever used, is especially good in those "oh [*]" scenarios. 22lbs of flotations feels like you glued on the surface.

My Chest is big, the PFD is perfectly adjustable to it and gives you an armour protection feeling in case you hit rocks. I tighten it snugly and it feel comfortable too. excellent buoyancy, best ventilation on a type V pfd. Pockets, D rings and clamps are more than desired. Only, I'd make a better protection for shoulder straps: the current design seems not able to keep the protections in place.

The jacket feels comfortable and allows for alot of movement. The extra lash points are handy. I really appreciate the big pockets. I can fit extra rescue stuff in one and a full can of beer in the other.

When you pull the red ball shown in the photo of the vest, you release the belt holding the ring in the back to which the tow rope connects. The tow rope would then pull the ring way from the Velcro strap that also holds the ring to the vest.

Yes, the strap is hard fastened on one end only. It is stitched to the back
of left flotation panel about 10 inches from the buckle leaving the back
and right free to release. This also keeps the buckle from traveling and
out of the way. If you wanted to remove the stitching it is a 10 second
job. The strap goes through the tow ring in the middle of the back panel.
The ring is kept centered by a second 5 inch velcro strap, which releases
easily.

I own this life jacket and yes, I think it might ride up in an IK. It's a big life jacket with lots of floatation down low and my IK seat is pretty snug. I wear a smaller/higher pfd with about 16 lbs. of floatation when I'm in the IK.

In short i doubt that it would ride up on your inflatable kayak
I use this jacket for rafting along with many others, this would be one of my favorites as it does not ride up. It sits well and remains comfortable after many days of white water rafting. Would recommend it to anyone who is serious about guiding, as it has nice large pockets and plenty of external points for attaching things.

vis-à-vis body? No it won't. vessel hold to body strong, of course if you lash
straps appropriately.

It will not. It is a very comfortable PFD and provided alot of support. If you are going to spend the money on this PFD, I would reccommend getting the leg straps as well.

Our Clearwater Life Jacket has a mesh lower back that works well with your seat. The NRS Ninja is even lower profile. How tall are you? I am 6' tall, medium torso. I have adjusted this jacket to ride high on my chest, so it does not drag on my sprayskirt. I paddle with a lot of body twist and so my jacket must clear everything below it. Can you adjust your other jacket to ride lower? I could adjust it to be lower, though not sure how much before it would be sitting on my sprayskirt. It is larger than many other high-rise jackets.
I got this jacket for use in the middle of winter (in eastern NC I paddle year round).
I got this jacket because it has more buoyancy than (most of) the other models (19 oz or 21 oz flotation, I forget which). If I miss a roll and have to bail out, I want to float as high as possible when it the water temp is below 45 degrees. This jacket plus my dry suit is my insurance policy.
When it is not as cold out, I wear a smaller jacket (16 oz flotation) that also rides high to avoid dragging on my sprayskirt.

This jacket fits great and you can tighten it up at the bottom waist strap. It does go all the way down to my waist so if you were looking for a short jacket you might like the pull over jacket rather than this zip up jacket.I also have the pull over and it does not ride up. It also has a strap you can tighten. I compared the pull over short jacket to my neoprene watr ski jacket by jumping off my houseboat. The PFD belt is at about my belly button so this vest is not short enough for what you describe, however, I have used mine in an inflatable and it worked just fine but I usually use mine just for rafting. I bought this PFD specifically for a Grand Canyon trip when I would spend a lot
of time in my Aire ducky. I had no problems with it riding up as long as I
cinched the bottom strap really well. It is a high float vest with a large
back, but it is very adjustable. You have to spend a little time to get the
adjustments dialed in. I can say one thing about it - it is a great vest for

front due to to thickness of the front of the vest, hence, kayaking pfds
that have the padding lower in the front and higher in the back. I use this

Its longer than a traditional kayaking Jacket. The arm holes seem plenty big if you tightened the shoulder straps all the way. I am 6'5" and would have no problem using it a a kayak jacket.
This is my first day back to work from a 4 day trip wearing this jacket. I have about 30 days on this jacket and luv it. My only complaint that I learned on this trip is that I would like the Quick release buckle to be on the side like some of the other rescue Jackets. When remounting an NRS SUP the buckle can snag on the foot mat making it very hard to remount the SUP in whitewater.

with whitewater hardshell kayak rescue vests. This high-flotation vest (22 lbs
or so?) is geared more towards rafting, but can be used for kayaking as well.
