I was on an 8 day canoe/fishing trip in northern Minnesota on some small-medium sized lakes. I really liked having both a fishing vest with all my accoutrements -- clippers, hemastats, flyboxes, tippit -- on my vest. My only complaint, and it's not a huge one, is that the pockets for my flyboxes were a bit too small. We If it were strickly flyfishing, I probably could have gotten by, but since we would through some spinning lures during the heat of the day, the boxes I had for those lures were a little big for the vest. It would be great if the manufacturer could make the pockets another 20% bigger.

I use it fly fishing from my kayak an bass boat. 2 front pockets hold each a scientific angler small fly box. The fleece pad works well for holding and drying flies. The attachable holder for a zinger only works with the pin on kind. Have never had to use it as a floatation device, I'm sure it works fine.

Requested improvements - Some Tarpaulin tabs with holes precut in them to accommodate all kinds of attachments. More colors. More d-rings. Elastic pockets made of netting to help things dry out.

Great all around vest that is very comfortable to wear, most important, if it is not comfortable then you never wear it. Fits well, does not restrict movement, not to hot in warm weather when paddling offshore, good storage. Added additional SOLAS panel on back.

I'm planning on being a raft guide this summer. Will this PFD work for the job? Also, is there an attachment for the NRS river knife that comes standard on the vest?

The vest is great. I usually use this for guests who do not have a fishing vest. Not sure there is a knife attachment for the vest. There is a cloth loop in the front that might be able to hold a knife. You attach a knife holster to the straps in the back as well. There is another loop of material at the bottom of the vest and a plastic ring handing from the vest that you could attach something to. I am quite happy with this purchase.

This will not be a good choice for a raft guide jacket. It doesn't have a solid knife lash tab. Give us a call, 800.635.5202, and we'll help you choose a good jacket.

The lower pockets are 5" x 7" and will hold any of my fly boxes. The upper pockets are about 4" x 4". I use them to hold split shot, strike indicators. The flaps on the lower pockets are good for extra leaders and tippet spools. SCS
