Was hoping especially to get the closeout price on a size medium Chinook PFD. I'm not a big guy, and was disappointingly surprised when the S/M sized way too small.

great for fishing. the pfd has enough pockets for storage of tackle. the only downside is the the leash that holds my pliers is on the opposite side of its holder across from the zipper. otherwise its great

Seems like a quality product, time will tell. So far I'm really satisfied with my purchase. It provides safety while wading in swift water while fly fishing on rivers; it is comfortable and has handy pockets for gear; and the color blends in with nature while stalking trout.

Just used this vest for the first time kayak fishing in Baja. It is very comfortable; you pretty much forget that it's on until you look for your nippers, and there they are right next to the pocket with tippets, your forceps, small tackle box, and oh yeah your wearing a PDF.
The high back lets you lean back against the kayak seat without being forced forward. It allows for a great degree of arm freedom with no rubbing as you paddle. I trolled artificials behind the kayak for several hours and did not have any hot-spots from the vest. I'm extremely pleased with the freedom and versatility of the fit. The air temp was in the 80's and it did not cause me to overheat.

Yes, I use the Chinook Mesh Back Fishing PFD when kayak fishing. The rear floatation panel rides above a high backed kayak seat and the shape of he front panels allow for relatively unrestricted movement when paddling. The meshed lower back and cinch straps provide a secure fit while allowing all-day comfort in a kayak seat.

I bought this life jacket specifically for this kayak because the life jacket (NRS Vista) that I use for flat water canoe racing came too far down my back interfering with the kayak back rest. stick out there a ways with lure boxes in the pockets. It will work better
with a kayak paddle than with a canoe paddle. The back pad seems to ride

Also, I have a 40" chest and wear a 4/3 wetsuit. Should I get the L/xl since the size range of the s/m will be little over the upper range? I'm assuming the difference in size is just the strap lengths?
