              Comments about Extrasport Swiftwater Fury:

I'm 6'3" and 220 lbs and I've used this product for over 10 years in Swiftwater Rescue. Its shorter design permits deeper shallow water crossings (longer versions make you bouyant too soon) without any appreciable reduction in float. Also, the mobility is great with the trimmer cut. The absence of extraneous straps avoids entanglement issues. I've seen no degradation externally in the material and would buy another one without hesitation.

                Comments about Extrasport Swiftwater Fury:

I'm an "average man" 5'8" 185lb. The first time I went paddling I used a differnt life vest and I felt like I had to fight to keep from drowning. Therefore I purchased this product and when I went into the drink I felt comfortable and secure. The price caused me to hesitate, but ask yourself, How much is your life worth???

                  Q:

I recently purchased an Extrasport Ranger rescue vest in my normal size. I currently and for several years have worn a Gold Label model. I found the Ranger to be very bulky and the side buckle inconvenient. It was difficult to paddle (ww open canoe)and it fit too loosly. No matter how tight I made it you could pull it over my head. I'm an ACA Instructor Trainer and like the hi flotation of Extrasport.

How do the other Extra Sport vests fit? They make three other models. Mine seems more suited for Firemen and the like. Great quality though.

Other models are Pro Creek, Universal Rescue, and Swift Water Fury.

If these don't work, I should probably try another brand.

                  Any one have any thoughts?

                  Thx in advance

                    A:

It really depends on what you're looking for. Of the three other jackets you mention, the Pro Creeker is the lowest profile model and would be well suited for recreational kayaking. The other two are high profile and would work best for rescue team professionals and rafters. If you ask questions about specific models, you're more likely to get owner feedback.

                    A:

                    Steve,
I would recommend the Extrasport Swift Water Fury; I've been
using one the past 4 years and it's a great vest in my opinion for a
number of reasons. Like you I wanted the extra flotation in big
water so I originally bought a Ranger vest but found that it had a
tendency to "ride up" during use, in part due to the extra
length of the vest and in part due to the length of my torso. The Swift
Water Fury is a shorter vest with big pockets, mutiple attachment points,
a quick release buckle system and with only 4 lbs less flotation than the
Ranger still has more than enough buoyancy for even larger sized
paddlers. I'm 5'9" tall and found the Fury much better
suited for someone of my height as opposed to the Ranger which seems
better suited to taller, larger paddlers given it's extra length. And
since the Ranger and Fury are approximately equal in price, for my money
the Fury is the best vest on the market today.
