      Comments about NRS Rodeo Pants:

Though a little snug getting the waist around the buttocks, the fit is perfect once they're on, and getting them off is a breeze. For SUP, the high back is a little awkward, but not enough to warrant a lower rating. For cold & windy days, and odds are better than 50% that you're going in, these are great choice coupled with the HydroSkin vest.

      Comments about NRS Rodeo Pants:

I have used them once so far but they seem to be relatively comfortable as far as neoprene pants go. If they had the felt lined pants like NRS does with their farmer jon suits that would be a plus. For me having a 35 inch inseam I found them to be a little short but I do have long legs and this isn't unusual for me unless I can find a tall version the product. I did find that they rubbed and there was a little irritation around the knee but it was minor and may have just been pulling the hair on my legs funny. Over all I would recomend them for the price as they seem to be made well and had nice knee pads and zippers on the legs (for easy on/off).

Good fit around the waist. The product is high enough at the waist as well. Nice length and the zippers at the feet are great. The material seems of a high quality too.

        Service and delivery comments:

Unfortunately, NRS sent me a medium instead of a large. I will say though, that their return policy was very good. I talked to someone I could under stand and I had the new product in two days so I could kayak that weekend. They sent before I sent the old one back.

          Comments about NRS Rodeo Pants:

I've used these for SUP (flat water and surfing), waveski and sea kayaking in Puget Sound and light surfing on the Washington coast. The pants are surprisingly warm and have been a great backup on non full wetsuit sessions. The knees are padded better than my full suit and are great on rocks, etc. They dry quickly and pack small for trips.

Are the ankle zippers made of plastic or metal? My concern: Metal zippers corrode and jam especially when used in salt water.

                Mackin,
The zippers are either plastic or nylon...definitely not metal. I'm on
Lake Michigan, so fresh water instead of salt, but plenty of sand. I've
had no problem with the zippers. Dan

Always rinse them after use in salt water of course.

Hmmm. I checked and can't tell fur shur.  The teeth seem like plastic and the pull piece seems like metal.  I am pleased with the suit but I use it in fresh water.  The zipper mechanisms do not seem particularly well made.

Can someone help me with sizing of the rode pant?

              Body dimensions:
              Height 6'1
              Weight 140lbs
              Waist: 30in

Do you suggest wearing another layer underneath? I'll be floating 50 miles over a three day period during winter months.

              Any suggestions on apparel combos?

You want any wetsuit garment to fit snugly, to minimize the amount of water that can enter in a swim. The Medium would probably work best for you. You'll also want upper body thermal protection, perhaps a wetsuit jacket. Remember, always dress for the water temperature.

                Aron,
I'm about 137 lbs., 30" waist, but 5'7". I have the "small" size of
these pants, and they fit well, and would be ok if I were a few inches
taller. I think they'd be short on you.
As far as insulating power, I don't know what conditions you'll be in,
e.g. water and air temps, how wet you'll be, etc. For me, another
skinny, un-insulated person, they wouldn't be enough for winter use here
in Michigan. They basically extend the season for me. I'm kayaking also,
and tend not to be immersed much--they are emergency protection.
                Good luck, Dan

NRS Rodeo pants are made of wetsuit neoprene. Like the name implies, wetsuit fabric works by allowing a thin layer of water to enter, which is heated by the body. The warm water layer and the thick insulating neoprene work together to keep the user nice and warm. NRS Rodeo pants also provide abrasion protection, keeping the user safe from sharp rocks and coral. While exploring shore areas, they will protect the wearer from thorns and poison oak / ivy. The pants will also provide protection from stings by jellyfish or fire coral..
NRS rodeo pants are constructed with a quality 2mm+ neoprene. The reinforced knees offer extra padding that comes in handy when making equipment repairs, or taking breaks on rocky shores.
For temperature limits and exposure guidelines, the pants offer thermal protection similar to (the lower half of) a 3/2 mm wetsuit.

No, they are not. That is not how wetpants work. The thin layer of water between your skin and the neoprene is how they keep you warm in cold water. If you don't want water on your skin, you need to look at a drysuit.
