Comments about NRS 3.0 Farmer John Wetsuit:

It was a bit of a wrestling match getting into and out of this wetsuit the first time. Wearing a pair of spandex shorts underneath made the in's and out's MUCH easier. Once on, this wetsuit is comfortable, warm and it looks good too. It has zips in all the right places and the kneepads are perfect. I love it.

Really like the fit of the NRS Farmer Johns. Very comfortable. The lower "relief' zipper is a must. Perfect for kayaking when it's too warm for a dry suit, but you need a layer between you and the cold water.

Only used it a few times, but looks like it will hold up well enough.
Seemed warm in cold conditions (34deg water), but I did keep the curved side down.
Would be nice if it had a Velcro/hook&loop closure at the bottom of the legs to stop the zipper slipping open - maybe it's just my fat cankles!!

Comments about NRS 3.0 Farmer John Wetsuit:

I decided it was time to start enjoying kayaking all year up here in Northern Indiana. The main reason I bought this suit was to provide safety and warmth when hitting the moving waters.

I really like that the suit moves with me and doesn't chaffe or keep me to warm while kayaking.

                  Q:

I wear a 46R suit coat and 34" waist pants. My shirts are all size large and fit well. Should I order the Large or XL. I weigh 175 lbs. I presume that there is a jacket that can be purchased to go over the sleeveless top?

I have a 52" chest 42" waist and purchased the same product. Going bigger for the jacket is a good idea - NRS makes one. It is a great product - like anything NRS makes.
I just got their SAR dry suit - 'Griz' size which could fit a small Cambodian village inside...good product there too.

Rick, a wetsuit works most efficiently when it molds snugly to the body. That way a minimum of water can enter the suit and won't slosh in and out, robbing you of body heat. Take your chest measurement to see what it would be in a snug fitting wetsuit. I know I wear a 44" suit coat and I'm fine in a Medium farmer john. For more torso insulation you can add the Wetsuit Jacket, Item # 2210 to fit over the suit. Or for wearing under it, a HydroSkin Shirt, Item # 2261.

I have the XL Farmer 3.0. I wear a 44R or 46R jacket. Waist is 35/36" and I'm 5' 11" at 195 lbs. The fit of the Farmer is correctly snug. My HydroSkin is also a XL and it fits snug as I'd expect a wetsuit to do.
However, my splash jacket is a Large. I was an in-between fit in the fitting charts and couldn't decide which was correct for me. So, after talking to NRS, I ordered both XL and L whereby once they were received I returned the one I didn't like. The Large I kept has proven to be good for me after several lake and flat river trips (class I/II).
From my experience; if in doubt, order both and return one. :-)

Get the large. With a 34" waist, the XL would be baggy on you. Yes,
there is an NRS wetsuit jacket.

I wear a 46 Sport Cut Jacket (Mainly Because I have wide shoulders) and I am 5'11" and weigh 230. I bought the XL and it works great for me. Nice fit and the arm holes provide plenty of room to paddle comfortably. Good luck...

lbs - same weight but our builds appear to be different. I recently
purchased a Lg. Farmer John wetsuit and it fits me perfectly. If you are
bigger than me through the chest and mid-section (and based on your coat
size, you are) I would recommend the XLg.
