The NRS Youth Shorty Wetsuit protects the smaller people in your life from chilly water and cold temperatures. The brightly colored panels make them more visible and easy to keep track of.
  • The suit is made of top quality 2.5-mm neoprene for insulation and abrasion resistance.

  • The closed cell neoprene supplements the flotation of the child's PFD, floating them higher in the water.

  • We also add Titanium to the adhesive layer bonding the inner fabric to the neoprene. The Titanium particles help hold in body heat, without adding bulk.

  • Rugged flat-lock stitching in the seams stand up to children's high activity levels.

  • The heavy-duty YKK™ zipper makes entry and exit easy.

  • The cut lines of the suit provide good freedom of movement.

Comments about NRS Youth Shorty Wetsuit:

I have a slim child with sensory issues. We ordered the 4T a couple of years ago when he was shivering at the pool. The 4T lasted 2 summers for him and allowed him to have fun in the water. He had some complaints about chafing around the neck, we were able to solve by folding down the neck. He is now 48" tall & 44 lbs. He can still squeeze into the 4T this year, but we ordered the next size up, because he stills gets cold quickly in the water. Durable and easy for him to get in/out of on his own.

Comments about NRS Youth Shorty Wetsuit:

I own a rafting company but got two of these for my 2.25yrs old twins. The product itself is great, especially for the price. Only problem is that it didn't fit my kids too well. I think the thicker neoprene may be a negative, a thinner stretchy hydroskin type material might be better. Basically it was tight in the torso and loose elsewhere, not providing much warmth. Still, pretty good!

My son hates the feeling of something closed tight around his neck. Most wetsuits have a rear zipper with a tight front. The NRS Youth Shorty with the front zipper is just what he needed.

My son has used this for multiple water activities - playing at the beach, early season swimming pool use, sit-on-top kayaking, and will soon use it for waterskiing. It has made it much easier for him to spend time in the water when it is cool.

                        Q:

What would be the best size for a 60lb 4ft 7in female?
I saw the comment that the best fit seems to go with weight... Thoughts?

Definitely go by weight. We have a small and it was for around 65 pounds but
shorter male. Most important for it to be snug to work and retain heat
                          effectively.

I dont think I can comment exactly on size but our daughter was 7 3/4 last
year and she is tall and skinny probably weighed about 55lbs and she wore a
youth small. the year prior when she 6 3/4 she wore the youth x-small
                          hope this helps.

I would probably go with the Youth Large. My son is about 65 pounds and 4ft 4in and it is snug on him. I always order a little big kids.

I have found NRS wetsuits to be true to size for the average build. I would also agree that for shorty style wetsuits the weight provided on the sizing charts is the best indicator of fit. If your childs build is a statistical outlier in terms of height or girth then you may want to consider a suit that is smaller or larger respectively for the weight provided on the chart.
If it helps my daughter has a slender muscular build. She typically runs 3 to 4" taller than the height indicated on the chart for her weight. We buy her wetsuits based on her weight and that has worked out fine the last three years.

Kids bodies are so hard to predict for fit. I'd say the safest bet is order both Y-S and Y-M sizes and keep the one that fits best. Returns are free and easy.
