Comments about NRS 3.0 Ultra John Wetsuit:

Very comfortable. The lining of this suit is warm and not clammy like other suits. Great knee pads for SUP surfing. Stretchy and easy to move in. The only improvement that I'd make is putting zippers near the ankles up the calf for easy exit. Also, regarding size: I'm 5'10", 160. I went with a Large in the full suit thinking that a medium would be too short. I was wrong. Large was too loose. Medium fits perfectly.

    Service and delivery comments:

delivery is prompt and the service is unbeatable. As long as NRS makes quality products and stands behind their products as they do, there is no reason to buy from anywhere else.

Comments about NRS 3.0 Ultra John Wetsuit:

I use wetsuits to extend my paddling season and have used a lot of different brands with limited success. The ultra john is worth the additional money with the lining and relief zipper and leg zipper. It is more comfortable and easier to use than most brands that cost less. The zippers are placed so they are not rubbing while in a kayak like most diving or surfing suits are prone to do.
I have a large chest (49) and arms; and slender waist (32) and legs. The large size fits perfectly on my lower body and is acceptibly tight on my upper body. A full suit is nearly impossible to get to fit, the L farmer john with a separate XL top is the perfect combo for paddling.

Comments about NRS 3.0 Ultra John Wetsuit:

I've been using this since temperatures have dropped to about freezing and the ultrajohn combined with a dry top and a Champion long sleeve poly top I find that my legs are very comfortable and my upper body tends to run a bit hot if I have the wetsiuit zipped all the way up. This would be too warm on days above 40F I think, but great deep into the teens and probably below.

              Q:

              Hi,

I am 5'11" with a 34 waist and a 36 chest (skinny and tall). Would I be better suited in the Medium or Large westsuit? I am too tall for the medium but the sizing is better.

              Thanks,

              Blaine

Being that tall I would go with the L. I am 5'10" 220 with a 35" waist and 42" chest  but I have a big belly and it stretches around that but everywhere else it fits like it is supposed to. You can always un-package it carefully and try it on, if it doesn't fit send it back for the other size.

I have no experience with the medium or large sizes, since I needed an
extra large, but I can tell you the extra large fit true to expectations.

                Hi, Blaine:
I'm 5'11" and 165 lbs and use the large. I first bought a medium but it was too small. I think you'd do well with the large.

i think your chest would be too small for a good fit on the large. I would have
to say a medium would be a better suit for you. I have a larger chest than you
and i didnt have a snug fit around the arm holes.

Blaine, you don't list your weight, but in wetsuits it's often the best tie breaker. I suspect you'll like the fit of the Medium best. You can order both and return one, free of another shipping charge.

                Blaine,

All wetsuits are proportional.  Your sizing does fit the "Medium" for men.
I think a large NRS fits up to a 42 chest.  Check with them.

You are like me; a tall drink of water.  Your ankles are going to show or you can pack your cooler in the chest area.

Hope this helps.  Have lots of fun!

My advice is to order both, keep the one that fits best, and return the
other. You'll save yourself a lot of time, and won't lose any money.
Probably you would be better in the large, but you really need to try them
on to know the best. Good luck!

I was thinking of getting this wetsuit for stand up paddle but I may occasionally surf in it. I wonder if the front zipper would be uncomfortable for prone surfing? Thanks.

Todd, I think the only thing that would be uncomfortable would be the zipper car (the slider), and it would be up near your throat so wouldn't be against the board.

Can't say for sure but I have worn it 2 or 3 times now and the zipper isn't an issue in the kayak. I think its high enough that it would not be an issue prone surfing but I don't surf so can't say for sure. I would say it is worth a try because it is very comfortable, easy to get on and off, with the liner in it over the traditional rubber.

This suit was actually purchased for my son. I have an older model. But after I tried this one out first, I was hooked. It is very comfortable and even though it isn’t as thick as my other suit, it works just as well. The zipper you mentioned below isn’t an issue as there is a cover/barrier for it on the inside that separates the zipper from you. Also, the little bulge where the end of the zipper is can be reversible so you can have it at the top or the bottom. Neither place has given me problems, but I’ve not laid on it for hours either.
                Hope that helps!
