The legs are too long - it would be nice to be order by crotch to ankle length - short med long. These are LONG or X long.

I should have been able to wear a Large in a wet suit. The XL was impossible to get over the shoulders or into, and when they sent a 2-X, it was smaller than the XL, and shorter! I inquired if these products were made in China, and the customer service person confirmed they were. When I got to the river outfitters in N.C., I rented a size L and it was perfect-- with room to spare-- They had a few of NRS wet suits in stock they said they just do not use because they are problem fits also.

I am so glad I bought this wetsuit and really can't say enough! I researched many before deciding on this one and then to find it on sale was too good to be true. I just used in for an 18 day Grand Canyon Colorado River rafting trip and it kept me warm and comfortable. Too warm when not in the water so I only wore it on the days when there was a reasonable chance that I would end up swimming. It doesn't keep you dry but it's not supposed to. What it does do is eliminate that lung squeezing shock of cold when you hit the water without it and it buys you time for rescue. The relief zipper was even more appreciated than I thought it would be. How nice to be able to answer the call of nature without having to drop trow completely in front of the other 15 people on the trip. How liberating!

Although a wetsuit with a convenience zipper is not recommended for sitting in a kayak, this suit has a thick fabric fold covering the zipper, so it isn't really noticable at all. And let me say...that zipper is THE ideal feature of this suit. I am a 5'7" proportionate plus sized woman, sz 16-18, and the XXL fits perfectly, so I would highly recommend it for similar physiques. I have some extra length in the legs, so it would work for a taller (less wide...lol) person too.

The ultra jane wetsuit was perfect in 60-70 degree waters. I also purchased a jacket just in case arm coverage was needed. I'm 5'11" and the XL was a perfect length. The crotch zipper was very convenient.

I think this is a very high quality product. Easy to put on and take off, the front zipper helps there. Love the relief zipper, definitely a selling point for me. The lining is very comfortable. For me, the only thing that would make it better, is the ability to get a wetsuit with a little more room up top without adding to the length. I might have gone for the "Venus" suit, but didn't want to forgo the relief zipper.
Service and delivery comments:
The customer service was GREAT. The person who I worked with on the phone was very helpful, friendly, and offered to send two sizes so I could try them on side-by-side. Having both sizes to try on made having to send one back well worth it. Delivery was prompt, Everything was as promised.

Have never taken to seamstress for altering for fit BUT have taken to seamstress/drycleaners outfit to modify the Ultimate Jane into a shortie (cut above the knee reinforcements).

This is a good weight for Northeast spring paddling. It is my standard when coupled with a dry top (and appropriate thin or thick insulation...over the wetsuit and under the dry top) and sealed with a sprayskirt in whitewater.
It is about a 1/8" thickness which I use all the time.
This wetsuit/drytop combination with thin or thick insulation underneath serves well for all conditions, except swimming (in the event of upset).
If there is a high liklihood of swimming, would strongly recommend wearing a dry suit which can be layered underneath according to conditions. NE River spring conditions have icy water.
I use a women's Kokatat goretex front-zip drysuit (when I used to, or now, even consider venturing out in freezing conditions). These days there are many proprietary less expensive fabrics will suit that purpose.

Ken - The wetsuit is 3mm thick. I used it for a late fall paddle week in Lake Superior and it was perfect! I didn't spend anytime in the water though other than to wade in. We had mostly sunny days and only needed a light shirt over our wetsuits. Add a paddle jacket and you would be warm in colder conditions. My guess is that you would want a thicker wetsuit if you were on a river, getting wet more often.

I have purchased this wetsuit for a close female friend and for my wife. It is the heaviest traditional wetsuit that NRS offers, I think it is 3.5mil but please research that yourself. Here in Central WI, where it was below zero deg Fahrenheit when we woke this morning, my friend will start wearing it once the ice clears the local lakes and rivers but she will be very cold once she gets wet. My wife requires it to be a little warmer yet, water temps need to get in the 50's. For cold water your female paddling partner will need fleece and a good quality paddling pants/top to wear over the fleece & wetsuit. Your question regarding how appropriate it may be is honestly too vague to answer. Maine, on the Atlantic, in April? No way..... you must have a good drysuit. Warmer inland water in the DC area in April? Quite possibly so.
This is the sort of thing that you could wear in WA year-round. Water temps in the 'Sound and in the straights stay in the 50's all year. On cooler days you would want a paddling top & maybe some fleece. On a warm day you could wear the wetsuit by itself. Rental outfits provide wetsuits of this weight to their customers. Serious paddlers however, opt for drysuits. If you are practicing rescues, working on rolls, or doing anything else that directly exposes you to the water for an extended period of time, being wet (instead of dry) will limit how much you can really participate.

It'd three millimeter neoprene that same thickness as the wetsuit I use for
rafting Colorado rivers during spring snow melt. I pair my suit with
neoprene booties, an NRS hydroskin shirt and splash jacket and I am
generally quite comfy.
Some may add long underwear as a base layer, but I do not.

Bonnie, we're thinking the XL is too long for you, that it'll bunch and be baggy. You want a wetsuit to fit skintight to minimize water entry and exchange. However, you've got plenty of time before April, so if you want to try it on you can exchange it if needs be. I don't know if this would be too long since I assume, at 200 lbs, a large size would be needed. I am 5'6'' (112 lbs) and the women's small is not too long. It could even be another ~ 2 inches longer and still not be too long......for my purposes it is 'just right'. Would suggest asking NRS about the inseam measurement to make a determination. For me, I wear a 30 to 30 1/2 " inseam for trousers.
The suit itself is great....I use it all the time for kayaking. The zippers make an easy on/off and the 'comfort' zipper in the Ultra is great for those quick trips to the bushes.Answered on 12/18/2012 by Anonymous

Based on my own experiences, I consider NRS sizes to run a bit on the small side. My wife is 5' 3", more than a bit heavier than you, and has either the L or the XL. When looking at the sizing chart, I would take hip & bust size into consideration more than the listed heights.
BTW- I am a guy. While I am familiar with the heavier-weight Ultra-Jane since I bought this as a gift, I do not know the "little Jane"......... My only advice there would be that if the "Little" is a lighter-weight neoprene, keep in mind you will not have as much stretch with the "Ultra". If the "Little" is the same fabric weight as the "Ultra", just with shorter legs, then I would expect the fit between the two would be about the same.
Sorry I am not much help. I am one of those guys with big legs, a normal waist, and then much larger again through the chest/shoulders. I find if I buy my "normal" sizes, the NRS clothes are too tight (especially in the aforementioned areas) but if I go up a size I am usually OK (sometimes "extra" in the waist or sleeve/leg length but not so much as to cause a problem).

You know better than I how clothes fit you in the mens vs. womens comparison. I can offer this, my wife is only 5'3". When she bought her XL she weighed (probably) 20lbs less than you. As expected, the legs were a bit long, but she was pretty snug everywhere else. Now is likely just a bit over your weight and cannot fit in her wetsuit. In my opinion, clothing sizes with NRS, should be guaged more by your waist, chest/bust, and hips than by your weight. We all carry weight differently. You could be very thin-waisted with a very muscular build, and the XXL would be way too big. On the other hand, if you are a bit more broad at the hips, fuller in the bust, and narrow at the shoulders, then this could be exactly the size you need.
For what it is worth, other than a difference in length from brand-to-brand, my wife wears similar sizes in both mens' & womens' wetsuits.
