Comments about NRS HydroSkin Grizzly John:

Excellent fit for those of us a little "thicker" in the middle. Regualar sizes were way too contricting on me - but this is great. I have size 13 feet and no problem with the lack of ankle zippers. Really comfortable and great with the Grizzly "Hydro" jacket if it really is cold.

        Service and delivery comments:

Great customer service regarding sizing and comparing to regular wetsuits. Fast shipping!

Comments about NRS HydroSkin Grizzly John:

I used the HydroSkin Grizzly John for two weeks straight of dinghy racing (505s) in France this summer. I wore it with and without a breathable spray top depending on the wind conmditions. I was very comfortable in all conditions, easy to get on and off, protected my legs, it was never too warm and I was never cold. Perfect for small wet-boat summer conditions. I have a 2 mil NRS long john and for wet sailing I greatly prefer the Hydro Skin - more comfortable and more flexible. I don't think it needs leg zippers and I have size 13 feet!

Comments about NRS HydroSkin Grizzly John:

My first wetsuit, so nothing to compare it to but easier to put on than I expected. Like the zipper arrangement. Really like the padded knees & shins for paddleboarding. For long torsos like mine, I would recommend ordering a few extra inches in body length. Worn only once and it worked the way it's supposed to. Great for larger paddlers.

              Service and delivery comments:

One of the fastest deliveries I've had for a U.S. to Canada order.

Comments about NRS HydroSkin Grizzly John:

I am a bigger guy who just started paddling. 6'1". 250 lbs. 50" chest. 44" waist. But my proportions are irregular: a short 30" inseam and a long torso. I think this wetsuit is true to size, but since I was "in the middle" of sizing I was unsure which size to order. I ordered the G-L and found it too short overall and a bit snug in the waist. Returned for the G2XL which is a bit long in the leg and a bit short in the torso but comfortable around my substantial waist. Quality appears good and I am happy to have a suit that will fit without being overly constrictive. I too would have liked zippers on the leg bottoms, but it is easy enough to put on/take off. Overall I am very pleased NRS offers some mlarger sized options of good quality.

                  Service and delivery comments:

NRS was superb - return was quick and smooth. Great communication and advice. Truly Excellent service.

Comments about NRS HydroSkin Grizzly John:

Excelent product that is easy to move around in and to wear. Only slightly let down by not having zips at the bottom of the legs as one is very tired after a good sail and it is a slight struggle. But do not let this put you off an excelent product.

can you use this to dive? or will the saltwater tear it up.

Salt water shouldn't significantly effect durability. Rinse well with fresh water after each use.

The materials used for underwater dive suits are made to deal with being compressed by the water- different than the materials used in surface sport wetsuits. I don't know whether the saltwater will tear it up, but I don't think it will keep your core temperature maintained because it's the wrong tool for the job. I've enjoyed scuba since 1975, taking up kayaking meant having to gear up all over again.

Yes, this works well for diving. I have been in anything between Lake Erie and the Florida keys in the winter with this. Pair it with zip front, long sleeve top and it's a great full suit for big guys. I also use the grizzly shortie for summer diving. Feel few to contact me with any questions. I am 5'11" 290lbs.

I am unsure whether or not salt water will harm this material, but since the vendor does not distinguish between fresh and salt water environments, I assume it would be safe if care for properly after usage, i.e. well rinsed in fresh water. But since it is only 3mm in thickness and has no arm or shoulder protection I would assume it would not be practicle as a source of protection from cold water for any prolonged periods. We use these "farmer john" style wet suits only as temporary protection againts hypothermia during short unintended submersions into cold water when kayaking.
One other observation: the Grizzly John as shown here is a BIG VOLUME suit and if you don't fill it completely and tightly, you may develope pockets or areas where the function of a skin tight wet suit will not work well, especially around the arm sockets and the belly and butt areas. Otherwise it has proven to be extremely comfortable for larger folks and not overly warm in hot weather.

Absolutely! I have only used mine in salt water. I would think it would
be best for very warm water dives only because it is thin. But tough and
                        durable. I love mine.

I haven't ever tried it in the ocean, but neoprene is neoprene, and is used in wetsuits all the time. Probably a good idea to clean it after use though to get rid of body oils and rinse the salt out just like any other wetsuit. I've had mine in some very saline and dirty rivers with no problem..
