Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Farmer John:

I bought my NRS drysuit a few years ago when I first began, and it has been my most rock solid piece of gear. The suit is perfectly designed for kayak position in contrast to general purpose wetsuits. Besides warmth the suit protects against rocks on the legs and poison ivy on shore. In cold weather it keeps you warm, and in hot weather you just need to get it wet and it will keep you cool. I wear a drysuit for four months and a wetsuit the rest. The season I decided to go without the wetsuit I got poison ivy all over my legs. As for river protection I have seen people swim and come out with ugly bumps and gashes to the legs- not so with 3mm of neoprene. When I took a safety class and we spent a couple days climbing all over rocks I was happy to have the protection of my neoprene over a thin layer of drysuit.

Comments about NRS Men's HydroSkin Farmer John:

I use the F / J Hydroskin mostly for off-season kayaking and some open water swimming w/ my Portuguese Water Dog. I think ankle zippers would be a great addition as I see the rear of the leg
cuff being overstretched and possibly wearing out prematurely. The extra weight would be worth it !
Great suit, have referred it to others and will be buying a F / J wetsuit for surfing this Spring.

The NRS Customer Service staff is great, thank you.

Great suit for open water swimming and cool days in the kayak... ankles are tight-should probably have ankle zippers for durability

                  A:

HydroSkin should certainly help moderate your body temp. It's a lightweight wetsuit garment, with 0.5 mm of closed-cell neoprene. It doesn't "breathe" so the sweat you generate will stay inside but it won't readily evaporate, which sucks heat away. You're probably already wearing rain/splashwear . You should consider wearing something like our HydroSilk rashguard under the Farmer John.
