As a professional kayak guide I have tried many water shoes over the years. I currently own 8 pairs of water / paddle shoes and like NRS Paddle Wetshoe the best. Best for fit, easy on / off, traction, heel protection and sole padding for walking on rocks. I have recommended them to friends and clients.

Comments about NRS Paddle Wetshoe - Closeout:

I wore through a pair over the last few years. When it was time to buy a new boot I went back to these. The ankle protection is perfectly placed- people barefoot or in different footwear seem eager to take a break from the boat and give their feet a break, but I'm happy to sit in the eddy in my boat. I'd forgotten how warm they are when you haven't worn them to holes too. For long hikes over sharp rocks I would like a stiffer sole, but the pliable nature is nice on wet rocks where the boots mold to the surface and stick securely.

Comments about NRS Paddle Wetshoe - Closeout:

These have been very comfortable and kept my feet warm except towards the end of the day when it was snowing and my feet had been on the bottom of the canoe for hours. The only problem is that the ankles are a little tight but not to the point of cutting off circulation. They also do not have great traction so if you are portaging on slick rocks be careful. Overall I am very pleased with them though.

I wear a size 13 1/2 shoe. My foot is quite wide. It is 4E in width. Do you think this paddle shoe will accommodate my foot as well a 3mm neoprene socks?

I wear size 11 version of these boots. I do not wear any socks in them as they are a good fit without. I don't know how much larger you would need to get to be able to wear 3 mm neoprene socks, but it would have to be substantial.

        A:

I purchased these as a gift for a friend (the woman's version). However, I have tried these on (the men's version) and I do not remember them leaving an impression of being all that roomy. I have an "average" sized foot, the traditional "D width", and I remember my issue being with shoe length but that the width was fine for me. A shoe I do remember to be fairly roomy for my liking was the Sasquatch shoe. I don't think the neoprene is as heavy of weight but the shoe was wider in the toe-box and is more "kayak friendly" as it is not based off of the traditional diving-shoe design (as is the one you are considering) which means there is less of a bulky rubber edge along the sides, heel, and toe. If your kayak deck is a little low and you have little extra room at the toe, this may be a better choice. It is all based on your own need however......
        I hope it helps,
        Bill

I dont know.  I have wide feet...In the  New Balance tennies I wear, they call them a 4E.  I dont really know what my width is otherwise.  I fit these shoes well.  I could probably get a neoprene sock in there comfortably.  It is prob worth ordering a pair and then returning them if they dont fit.  Thats likely the only way you are going to know. They are a fairly roomy bootie anyway and have great traction.  good luck

These come only in men's sizes. Check out the NRS shoe size conversion table on the website. These tend to run a little bit small, so if you are between sizes I would suggest that you go the next size up. From the shoe size conversion chart it looks like you will need a size 8.

In our shoes that are in men's sizing, most women find a good fit by ordering one size smaller. That is, you're a women's size 9, order a size 8 in this shoe.
