NRS Boundary Shoe Q: What is the circular patch on the outside of the boot 1/3 the way up? Asked on 5/8/2013 by Jon the Newfie from Newfoundland Know the answer? Answer this question 9 answers A: A little extra padding around anklebone area. Answered on 5/9/2013 by Anonymous A: I suspect it is a wear patch because to beef up durability at a point wear you might expect more wear but I do not know for sure DP Answered on 5/8/2013 by Anonymous A: Ankle patch, I believe. Comfortable, warm boots. Bob Collins Answered on 5/8/2013 by Anonymous A: it is to protect your ankle from leaning on the side of a hard shell boat for long periods of time. Answered on 5/8/2013 by Anonymous A: I believe that is a cushion for the ankle. Answered on 5/8/2013 by Anonymous A: Extra chafe protection, I think. Answered on 5/8/2013 by George from Seattle, WA A: It is a pad to protect your ankle or malleolus. Answered on 5/8/2013 by Anonymous A: Jon, that's some extra padding opposite the ankle bone protrusion. It works to protect that part of our foot against contact with the walls of a kayak. Answered on 5/8/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: It is apparently to provide more cushion for the outside of the foot and ankle joint which some kayakers find bothered when paddling in their boats for long periods. We use the Boundary boots for open canoeing and rafting and don't find this to be a problem for us. HTH Answered on 5/8/2013 by Swims_with_canoes from S.E. TN
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: I wear a women's 9-1/2. What size should I order? Asked on 2/15/2013 by Leslie from Reno, NV Know the answer? Answer this question 5 answers A: I would get a 10. Answered on 2/15/2013 by Anonymous A: Size 9. I wear a size 9 and bought the size 8 and they fit perfectly. Answered on 2/16/2013 by Anonymous A: size is true, and you don't wear socks! Answered on 2/16/2013 by Anonymous A: Depends a bit on what you'll be wearing inside them. Bare feet or thin sock, a 9 should work. Drysuit socks or thick socks in general, I'd go with a 10. Answered on 2/16/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: I wear a 9 1/2 also and I am very happy with the size 10 I purchased. Great boot!!!! Answered on 2/16/2013 by Anonymous
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: My feet get very cold on rivers. (We are rafters.) Have other women (who tend to get cold faster than men) had good experiences with the Boundary Shoe keeping them warm? Asked on 1/16/2013 by Jackie from Missoula, MT Know the answer? Answer this question 5 answers A: Keeps me warm, but not dry. Boots could stand to be a little wider. I still wouldn't want to be without them in cold weather. Answered on 1/29/2013 by Anonymous A: I LOVE these boots!!!! They keep my feet warm and dry during the winter months when I kayak Cape Cod. Highly recommend them Answered on 1/17/2013 by Anonymous A: These keep your feet very warm, even better with a pair of neoprene socks. Answered on 1/18/2013 by Anonymous A: I've been using this boot for many years and paddle through the winter with it. I put a wool sock on for extra warmth and to control the neoprene stink you can get if you don't wear a sock. Excellent boot that I highly recomment. Jackie Answered on 1/16/2013 by Anonymous A: yes they are warm...you still need to wear warm socks with them.....and they do stay dry....I love them. Answered on 1/22/2013 by Anonymous
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: I wear women's size 7. I will be wearing these boots over my drysuit (which has attached booties) and a pair of thick socks. What size do you recommend? Asked on 1/13/2013 by Ash from South Lake Tahoe, Ca Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: They run small to me it seemed, so I would get a size larger if you are going to wear thick socks. I mostly go without as they are pretty warm. Good luck and they're great boots! Lynde Answered on 1/14/2013 by Anonymous A: I wear size 9 mens and size 9 mukluks fit me perfect with thick wool socks. I do not use drysuit booties though, so those might need more room. Answered on 1/14/2013 by Anonymous
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: What is the circumference of the top part of the boot? Asked on 1/11/2013 by SG from Maryland Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: 17" (measured outside) Answered on 1/12/2013 by Anonymous A: 17 inches Good luck! Answered on 1/12/2013 by Anonymous
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: I have a pair of the dry pants from NRS and am looking at buying a pair of the Boundary shoes. My question is for best water resistance, do you wear the pants tucked in to the shoe or over the shoe? Many thanks. Asked on 1/8/2013 by FLSalomon from NW Florida Know the answer? Answer this question 8 answers A: I wear the pants tucked in the boot. Answered on 1/9/2013 by Anonymous A: Doesn't really matter if you wear the pant over or tucked into the boot. The key is to not allow water to get in over the top of the boot at your calf. If the water remains below the top of the boot, your foot will stay dry. Water does not intrude into this boot, it is completely waterproof. Only will get wet if the water comes in over the top at your calf. Answered on 1/8/2013 by Anonymous A: I have always tucked mine in the shaft of the Boundry shoe and as of yet have always had warm n toasty dry feet ! Probably a personal preference depending on how much wading around you do ! -dg- Answered on 1/10/2013 by Dan from St. Charles, MO A: I have always tucked mine in the shaft of the Boundry shoe and as of yet have always had warm n toasty dry feet ! Probably a personal preference depending on how much wading around you do ! -dg- Answered on 1/10/2013 by Dan from St. Charles, MO A: I keep the pants/wetsuit inside the boots. It is helpful to be able to see how the water depth and the top of the boots line up when entering the water. I usually wear waterproof socks in case I go in or step in water that is over the boots. Sent from my iPad Answered on 1/9/2013 by Anonymous A: Definitely wear dry pants tucked in! Answered on 1/9/2013 by Mary S from northern NJ A: Dry pant legs will have to fit inside the Boundary Shoe. Answered on 1/9/2013 by Clyde from NRS A: Been getting in some confused answers for this question. NRS dry pants have latex ankle gaskets. The latex gasket will not stretch enough to go over the Boundary Shoe, so the pant will have to be inside the shoe. If instead, splash pants were being worn, they might be able to be worn over the shoe. Answered on 1/15/2013 by Clyde from NRS
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: I wear a size 10 boot. I got a NRS boot size 10. My foot feels tight in it. My big toe is at the end of the boot. I would like a little more room. Will it loosen up or should I exchange it for an 11? Asked on 12/17/2012 by Stro Know the answer? Answer this question 10 answers A: Boot is neoprene, I would not expect stretch, or loosening up Answered on 12/19/2012 by Anonymous A: I'd go with the bigger size. They don't stretch out over time. Good Luck! Answered on 12/17/2012 by Anonymous A: Sounds like you need the larger size. Use our Hassle-Free Returns process to make the exchange. Answered on 12/17/2012 by Clyde from NRS A: I would verify that the sizing is correct if it is especially tight. You want the boot to fit somewhat tight so it won't come off easily in water, but it should not be uncomfortably tight. I am a size 11 boot and my boundary boots are true to size. Answered on 12/17/2012 by Anonymous A: I have worn my boots twice, and they did not expand. Personally, I would get the next size up. Sent from my iPhone Answered on 12/17/2012 by Anonymous A: Well, I hate to tell you this, but I sent these back and bought chotas, they had more support around the ankles. ...sorry NRS Answered on 12/17/2012 by Anonymous A: If your toe is touching, go up a size but watch the width and your heel-don't want to walk out of it and/or wear a blister. Sent from Dan's iPad Answered on 12/18/2012 by Dan from St. Charles, MO A: The footbed and sole are some kind of molded rubber. They aren't going to loosen up. Exchange them for 11's. You'll be comfortable in a l arger size , you'll have room to wear heavy socks if you want, your feet wi ll stay warmer, and you won't dread wearing them all day. The velcro instep straps will help you feel confident that they won't pull off if you don't want them to. Answered on 12/18/2012 by Anonymous A: In my experience, the boot will not "pack out" or expand noticeably by further use. I ordered one size larger than my shoe size and all is good with the fit and comfort levels. Hope that helps. David Gibson Walla Walla, Wa Answered on 12/18/2012 by Anonymous A: I wear a size 10 and my boot fits well. It is snug with thick socks. If you do winter boating, you will want to be able to put wool socks under them. I've only worn them 4-5 times in 2 years but they have not stretched. Answered on 12/19/2012 by Kj from Durango, CO

Plenty tall enough to launch a kayak. I wear a size 8 women's shoe, but ordered a size 9 in this boot to accommodate thick wool socks in the fall/winter. Answered on 12/9/2012 by Anonymous A: The boundary boot comes to just below my knee and I am 5'3". They are hands down one of my favorite and essential pieces of river gear. Answered on 12/9/2012 by Kj from Durango, CO A: I wear a size 11 and stand 6'1", mine measure 15" and hit me just a little above mid-calf. The best boot I have found to keep my feet dry and warm ! -dg- Answered on 12/9/2012 by Dan from St. Charles, MO A: It is ~ 15" tall. Answered on 12/10/2012 by Clyde from NRS A: I just measured the boot, from the bottom of the heel to the top edge it is 15 inches tall. Scott Answered on 12/12/2012 by Castman from Kalamazoo, Mi
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: Hello, I wanted to know know if the sole is flat or if these is a rise in the heel? Thank you! Asked on 11/25/2012 by Ramon25 from new mexico Know the answer? Answer this question 8 answers A: The heel is flat. These are great boots. I use mine all the time. Jbug's IPAD Answered on 11/25/2012 by Anonymous A: It is flat. Sent from my Verizon Wireless Device Answered on 11/25/2012 by Anonymous A: Relatively flat. They're great in the kayak and landing the boat in cold water. But good grief, I do get a heck of an ache in my feet if I have to walk any distance in these boots - which is something I never deal with in any other footwear. -JBJ Answered on 11/25/2012 by Anonymous A: The sole is flat. It just looks like it's elevated in the picture but it's not, the rubber wraps up and around but the foot bed is flat. Gives your heels more protection from the hull of your boat, especially a kayak which is what I use them for. Hope this helps. Answered on 11/25/2012 by Anonymous A: The sole is flat! No rise at all. Answered on 11/25/2012 by Shel from New Bern A: The sole is flat. Answered on 11/25/2012 by Anonymous A: Flat, no raised heel Answered on 11/26/2012 by Anonymous A: The sole is flat - the heel is not raised, even though, in the photo, the protective material arould the heel suggests it might be. The sole is quite firm, with a pretty good grip, suitable for walking on sharp rocks, and the neoprene upper is dry, warm, an d flexible. T hey are not meant for uses that would be normal for rubber boots with non-slip soles, like for sailing. Also like rubber boots, they will not keep you dry if you step into water that is over the top o f the boot. Answered on 11/26/2012 by Anonymous
NRS Boundary Shoe Q: What is the outside (heel to toe) length of the size 13 Boundary Shoe? I'm sure my size 13 feet will fit inside just fine, but want to be sure I can fit in my kayak with the boots on! Asked on 11/18/2012 by Swamp from Central TN Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: I would get a boot size that is at least what you normally would get as the boot is tough to get on and off when your foot is a little wet. Otherwise the boots work well. Dave Answered on 11/18/2012 by Anonymous A: Conservative measurement is 12 3/4" for the size 13. Answered on 11/19/2012 by Clyde from NRS
