I use this comm3 wet shoe while kayaking on the Colorado River summertime. My previous wet socks were good but no protection when portaging. The NRS Comm 3 wet shoes are great the 5mm sole offers good protection, the zipper really assists their removal when feet are wet. I am ordering a one size larger in order to wear with my hydroskin socks. The reason being I used the shoes with no socks while in Seattle, very cold water very cold wind, my feet were really cold. I am eagerly awaiting [...] to try them with my socks.I will report when I've tried them out.

    Great all-around

Great for warmth with neo socks. Soft sole isn't too supportive for a lot of walking, but they're flexible as a kayak bootie for the winter months.

Extremely pleased with this product. However I would recommend purchasing a pair of dry socks or wool socks if you expect to keep your feet warm while using this product during those cold water days during early spring or late fall.

        Comments about NRS Comm-3 Wetshoe:

Worried about a shoe that would be too small, I ordered a size 15 instead of a 14. And lo and behold it's a little large and lets more water in than I was hoping getting in and out of my sit-on-top kayak. But I used them in 40 degree days on Georgia mountain lakes, and my feet stayed nice and warm.

This product was a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. His old NRS Wetshoes were worn out, so this product was the perfect gift. He was actually able to go kayaking a few weeks ago and loved his new booties! Said they were easy to get on and off and loved the grip on the bottom! The service was wonderful and the employees were great!

Insane Quality. You don't see this quality much any more. These are so comfortable I would like to wear the daily. On the negative side, I believe the picture on the site showed a Red stripe up the back. When they arrived the stripe was blue. If that is important to you, please confirm stripe color when ordering.

They're pretty waterproof, up to the top. Step in over that level and water will enter.

Nope, not waterproof. Great booties though. On a cold day put a pair of
wool or synthetic socks on with and your feet will stay plenty warm.

As long as the water doesn't overtop the boot, mine have never leaked. The
secret is in selecting the right socks to keep your feet warm. Oddly
enough, I forgot mine once and ended up with insulated socks from the
dollar store. They're all I use now.

This boot is not water proof but most paddling booties are not. These are comfortable and the material helps retain warmth.

No these aren't really waterproof. Water can get in the zipper and the fabric is slightly porous. If you submerge them you will eventually get wet. They are designed to keep you warn even when wet. I would, however, describe them as "water resistant." With only slight splashing your feet will remain fairly dry. In any case they will keep you feet pretty warm. They are quiet good at that.

                Hello,
The short answer is no. The neoprene is waterproof, though these are
designed to be completely suberged. I typically wear them with thick wool
socks (I was inbetween sizes and went big so I could add socks). The shoe
is designed to take on water, but keep your feet warm. It is the same
                concept as a wet suit.

Does the zipper on these start low enough to get them on easily over goretex dry suit socks?
Also, does the sizing run the same as the original kickers?

I have had this boot for a few years. With no problems at all, I wear them: 1) in bear feet, 2) with neoprene socks, and 3) with full dry suit over neoprene socks. The boot has always been fine: comfortable, easy to put on, easy and safe to walk in on rocky shores, etc.

As far as your "sizing" question, I've had a couple of pairs of these boots, but I'm not sure if I had the "original kickers". The two or three pairs that I have had both fit the same, as I remember.

Hope this helps you. Have fun on the river.

Yes, the zipper starts low enough for easy drysuit sock entry. And the sizing of this shoe and the Kicker is the same.

They work fine with my Kokatat dry suit. I don't know about the sizing, except to say that they seemed true to the label in my case. They didn't run large or small.

I would consider ordering the size up. That way if you'd like to wear a
